Dear Hoefs Family, I am so sad to hear of Steve's passing. I will keep each of you in my prayers. Steve was a great friend of my family (Rimes and Allen) for many years. He spent many hours as Aunt Beverley's house when we were growing up and literally became part of the family. He was loved by many and will truly be missed.

Jeff, Danny and Kathy, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We didn't know that Steve was ill until last week. As cousins, we all grew up together but as we got older and you moved away, we all got busy with our families and barely stayed in touch. Know that you are always in our hearts......

I just want you to know that my memories of Steve are very good, and even though it has been a number of years since I've seen him he stands out in my mind. I know he will be greatly missed and our thots and prayers are with you as you feel the loss in the coming days and months. Dana and Corey,
We have never met, but I graduated with Steve at Barnwell High. I can still see Steve and his brilliant red hair. He was a friend and someone that I knew had great character. I spoke with him in October when Marty Grubbs told me that he was ill. In speaking with him, I sensed a great faith in God and trust that God would see him through.
I am saddened by your loss and will pray for your comfort and strength in this time of sorrow.
Although I have long left Barnwell, I will always have fond memories of the times I spent with Steve on the sidelines of a Barnwell football game.

I'll never forget meeting Steve. He was so much taller than I, so I had no choice to but to look up to him. It wasn't long before I figuratively looked up to him as well.
I'll never forget how he insisted my teens call him "Steve" and not "Mr. Steve" and certainly Never "Mr. Hoefs". He had no high falutin ideas about who he was and he didn't want anyone else to think too much of him either. It was for that very reason we all do think so much of him.
As much as Steve and my Dad both loved to work with teens, I have little doubt they will get to know each other Up There very quickly (if they haven't already) and find a bunch of teens to play games and be buddies with.
Dana and Corey, You are in my prayers. The world is poorer for Steve's leaving, and Heaven a little richer.

Steve will always be remembered by the Warhorses Baseball Teams throughout the years as a great friend, advisor and coach. Steve actually made it fun to go to the Barnwell Drug Store!

Dana and Corey, Steve was a person I looked up to. When I looked at him I knew I was looking at the heart of Jesus. He was such a good man. More men should strive to have lived they way he did.

I remember Steve moving to B'well when we were in 8th grade, I believe. He's always been a sweetheart and was a good friend to me and my family. We will all certainly miss the "Red Fox" but he will live on in our hearts forever. He is at peace with the Lord. May God comfort particulary his family and all the friends he leaves behind. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Hoefs Family at the loss of Steve.I will always cherish the memories when we were members of Barnwell Presbyterian Church and taught a youth Sunday school class together about twenty years ago.He was a very active and upright Christian Gentleman.I joined the First Baptist Church about five years ago and renewed our Friendship.He may be gone,but will never be forgotten.Our thoughts and Prayers will be with all of you.May Jesus give you the strength now and the days ahead of you.
