I still remember our time together as students and the letters over the years after and I think of you often.

As I read the messages from friends and family, I've come to know the "grown-up" version of Vinson, but the memories that flood my heart and soul are ones of some 35+ years ago when we were youth together in Florida. Vinson always had his nose in a book and we thought he should "loosen up" a bit - he was way too serious - and then, his unique sense of humor would pop out and surprise everyone. He was such a positive influence on so many of us - a true lover of Baha'u'llah. He was a dynamic Baha'i youth and from what I've read here, grew to be a truly dynamic adult as well. I'm so happy he found love and fulfillment in his life and I'm sure that he will continue to touch and inspire us for a long time - even from the "garden of happiness" where I'm sure his inquisitive spirit and thirst for knowledge is driving someone nuts. Please know that our love and prayers surround you.

Allah'u'Abha!

It's been almost 31 years to the day since I first met Vinson. That day is as clear to me now as ever. In fact its one of my favorite stories to tell to others. We went through some difficult times together, yet Vinson's humor, unique vision and knowledge helped me get through it and continues, after all this time, to support me and give me inspiration. What I learned from him has led me down some wonderful roads that I might not have otherwise taken. I feel him close in my heart as always.

I only know Steven and Sally, but any relative of Sally's had to be a really neat person! I felt instant acceptance from them when I lived in Durham, and can only imagine any relative of hers being the same! I know Vinson is missed! But I also know he's with Friends now who have also left this plane of existence! Love you Sally!

I was so surprised to hear of the passing of Vinson. I met the Jamir family when they were at Winnebago and I was getting ready to move to Macy back in '67. Although I visited with Sally at a conference in North Carolina more recently, I hadn't seen the rest of this wonderful family since then. The incredible accomplishments of Vinson are echoed by the entire family and their incredible sacrifices for the upliftment of humanity in many parts of the United States and other countries. Whether it be in law, environment and agriculture, education--this family has help so many people in so many ways. God bless you in this difficult time.

I too admired Vinson and often asked him questions whose answers would often lead me doing more homework sometimes for years. His humble and profound manner are still inspiring to me.

As a brother-in-law, I too wish to offer my thanks for the prayers freinds near and far are offering on his and his family's behalf.

I first met Vinson in 1974 while attending a Baha'i School in North Carolina. I was, and remain, impressed with his confidence, determination, open spirit of acceptance of all, and vision.

His passing is so unfortunate; he has benefited all with his life.

Despite all things, BECAUSE of all things, I will miss my father...The final frontier will not be nearly as exciting without him.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those of you who have honored my father by posting your memories and admiration on this website. He was a brilliant, beautiful, loving man, and my family is moved by the outpouring of love and support. In the past week, my memory of my father has moved from a man who woke up in a tattered bath robe to a too-strong pot of coffee feet away from me to an inspiring, intelligent, generous and kind individual who left an impression on you all.

P.S. To those of you who worked with him, I'm the one in New York.

It was with saddness that I heard of Vinson's death. I only knew him through the Internet, but became deeply impressed with the love he cherished for his family, his knowledge and his devotion to humanity. We developed an off and on again private email discussion in which he showed his humor and many other qualities. His family has my sincere condolences.

Vinson Jamir was a remarkable person and it has been wonderful reading the comments of his co-workers about his kindness, his goodness, his laugh. I was stunned to learn of his passing. My friendship with Vinson was via the Internet on a Bahá’í list-serve. Being raised in a Bahá’í family Vinson’s knowledge of the teachings of Bahá'u'lláh was a flowing fountain which he poured forth with such generosity and humility. We corresponded occasionally. I considered him a mentor in some ways, but mostly a dear friend.

He once told me that his wife and sister-in-law were being very attentive to him while he was ill with the flu and that it was a temptation to continue being sick. He had a wonderful sense of humor! As mentioned by others, he expressed pure delight in his daughters - he seemed to thoroughly enjoy being the father of girls and many of his comments suggested a sincere compassion and respect for women.

My heartfelt prayers will be offered in comfort to his family and for the progress of his soul.

Our mutual friend Khazeh, who lives in the UK, would also like to express his deepest condolences to Vinson’s family with feelings of mutual sadness. Khazeh recalls Vinson’s profound knowledge and love for the Guardian and the Covenant and his generosity in mailing to him a treasured ALIM CD. Khazeh wrote: just say, khazeh was very very sad and prays to Baha'u'llah, Sultaan e Sareer e Lahut that haply He, the Hearer and Answerer of Prayers will welcome Vinson and strengthen his bereaved family.

There are many of us, whom he never met in this life, who loved him dearly.

Vinson Jamir was a scholar and a true gentleman. He was open minded, inquisitive, and full of life. He was a good man, and he will be missed by many people, more than his family could know. He was a religious man, but without prejudice or discrimination. He quietly lived up to the ideals of his faith. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing.

Although I never met him, I was a great admirer of his e-mail contributions to Baha'i e-mail list. His wisdom and spirituality will be greatly missed. I pray for his continued spiritual progress in the after-life and my sympathies and prayers go to his family

I knew Vinson through his participaton on the Baha'i Studies list, where he was a veritable pool of information. A true scholar, Vinson not only knew what he was writing about, he made you think.

His passing is a great loss to his community and my deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

Sincerely,

I heard of Vinson's passing with great sadness. By coincidence, I was going thru' some old Baha'i email msgs this weekend and found some of his posts I had saved because of their astute observations. He will be profoundly missed.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend Vinson. I have many fond memories of the days when his family and I were all living in Athens, Georgia, and serving together as members of the Baha'i community. Although we had not seen each other for some years, I thought of him often and with great affection. He and his family are in my prayers.

I WAS VERY SURPRISED & SADDEN TO HEAR ABOUT VINSON'S DEATH. I WORKED WITH IRS OUT OF THE SAVANNAH'S OFFICE. WE SHARED THE SAME MANAGER FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS NOW. ANY WAY, I WILL MISS TALKING TO VINCE DURING THE NEXT FILING SEASON. MAY GOD WELCOME HIM INTO HEAVEN,AND GIVE COMFORT TO THOSE HE LEFT BEHIND.

I am sad to hear of the death of Vinson. I worked with him in the IRS office since 1994. He was the first person I ever talked to in that office. Our conversations continued until I retired 1-11-03. I will always remember how much he looked forward to reitrement and how much he loved to share about his family, especially the accomplishments of the daughters. I was back in the office a couple of weeks ago and talked with him briefly. I always enjoyed his gutteral laugh. May God comfort you in your time of loss and grant you His Peace!
