Phillip Barajas Sr.

1932 - 2014

Barajas, Sr., Phillip 82, of Aurora, formerly of Jacksonville, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Rush-Copley Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 19, 1932 in Aurora, Illinois. Phillip was a graduate of East Aurora High School. He later enlisted in the Army, and was with the 1st Calvary Unit during the Korean Conflict. Phillip wrote many letters to the editor of the Beacon News to voice his opinion on many subjects. As a pastor, Phillip had a ministry at the Jacksonville prison. He was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Aurora. Survivors include his son, Phillip Barajas, Jr.; numerous grandchildren who live in the Jacksonville area; three brothers, Albert (Gloria) Barajas, Peter (Cecelia) Barajas and Jose (Anna) Barajas; his sister, Mary Barajas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, David Barajas; his parents, Sacramento and Altagracia Barajas; four brothers, Jesse, Francisco, Alexander and Felix Barajas; and his sister, Juanita Saldana.
