Ronald Grohn Obituary

Ronald "Bill" W. Grohn, Sr., formerly of Oswego, IL and later of Marathon, FL was called home on May 14, 2015. He was born on July 6, 1934 in Chicago. A salesman by trade for most of his life. Bill loved people, life and sharing stories. He and Patty loved to travel and eventually retired in the Florida Keys. He enlisted in the United States Army where he served as a corporal during the Korean War from 1952 to 1955 and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor for courageous acts during his service. Survived by his wife, Patricia, of 37 years, daughters, Cynthia Grohn-Reiff, Kathryn (Kelly) Vance, Christine McClellan and son, Ronald (Cindy) Grohn, Jr., also two sisters Marilyn Pedigo and Marie Segevich, seven grandchildren, Nicole Fredericksen, Ashley Grohn, Joshua Grohn, Mitchell Vance, Hannah Reiff, Mary Kate Vance, Jackson Vance, as well one one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie, brother, Joseph and sister, Rose. There will be a memorial with military honors at River Hills Memorial Cemetery, 1650 South River Street, Batavia, IL on June 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Luncheon to follow at Batavia VFW Post 1197, 645 South River Street, Batavia, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warrior Project are appreciated.

Well Dad, Mom is with you now... just 5 days after she wrote you her last note. I think she somehow knew she was coming to be with you, she was so ill. She went through so much and missed you so HARD, with everything she had (I know, I've got what she left behind in print). You were her one true love. I visit your gravesite often and she'll be joining you asap there. Please hold her for me and feel the biggest virtual hug and love I'm sending you both. I'm never going to be the same.
