John PILCIC Obituary

81, of Lancaster passed away peacefully on June 23, 2018. John was born in Madison, Illinois on February 2, 1937 to John and Patricia Pilcic. John was a thoughtful and hard working man who loved to tinker and "fix" things, never afraid to tear something down and put it back together, and was a gifted auto mechanic. There was rarely space in his garage for a car that was in good running order. His four children share in his dogged determination (stubbornness) and willingness to learn. John worked for many years in the aerospace industry, and was proud of the contributions he made in the field of flight test engineering at Northrop and
Lockheed. Although a quiet and reclusive man, he was passionate about exploring and preserving wilderness, black licorice, social justice, doing things the right way (translation--His Way), helping family, friends and neighbors however he was able.... and FISHING. He especially loved the high altitude lakes near Bishop Pass, favoring Blue Lake, and the south end of Lake Sabrina. Here he found majestic wonder, solitude and good fishing. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia and infant daughter Kelli. He is survived by his ex-wife Doris (Glover) and his children; daughter Kathie and husband Ron (Messer), daughter Linda and husband Daniel (Broderius), son Pete and common-law wife Robbin Lee, and son David and wife Kathy. Also surviving are sister Barbara and brothers Marty and Ben. He was so proud of his grandchildren Julie, Danny, Amy, Ali, Andrew, Kenny, and Katelynne and of his six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Per his request John has been cremated and has requested no services. His wish is that his ashes be scattered at a later date in the wilderness near his beloved Lake Sabrina.
The idea of wilderness needs no defense; it only needs defenders. Edward Abbey
