Robert SIMMS Obituary

66 years old of Rio Rancho, N.M. passed suddenly on Dec. 9, 2022 after a brief illness. Robert was born in Cherry Point, N.C. and moved to California where he met his wife of 48 years and settled in the Antelope Valley where they raised their two children. Robert worked for Lockheed and then went on to spend the next 30-plus years working for the Antelope Valley Sheriff's Department. He loved fishing, playing guitar, camping and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a Jack-of- all-trades, there were very few things he couldn't fix. He had a witty, unique sense of humor and al- ways kept his family entertained with his crazy antics. He had a kind and generous spirit and was always the first to lend a helping hand. Robert was enjoying his very much-deserved retirement in New Mexico where he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his two grandchildren, traveling and exploring his new state. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden loss. He is survived by his loving wife Melanie, forever cherished and remembered by his daughters Nicole Richards and Mallory Galeano, his grandchildren Alora Richards and Greysen Eugene Galeano who adored their "Bob," his sons-in-law Eric Richards and Nicholas Galeano, as well as his eldest sister Debi Hawkins. An amazing husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother, he will be forever missed. A private service will be held for his family at a later date.

Bob and I worked together for over 25 years at the FSB division of the Sheriff´s Dept. He was a down to earth, hard working, knowledgeable, fun loving character who was a co-worker you could always count on for help or support. I´ll miss you, my friend.
