Allan Yont Obituary

Yont, Allan
78, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away peacefully on March 12, 2015 after a struggle with Cancer. He was born in Concord, MA, attended the Middlesex School there and graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Psychology. Al served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals, retiring as a Captain after 10 years of service. He then began a 40 plus year career in the insurance industry beginning with Aetna, then in various positions with independent insurance brokerages, studied and earned the CPCU designation. Al spent the last 20 years proudly serving as President of General Southwest Insurance Agency, only recently retiring in 2014. Al loved his work, building relationships, mentoring and interacting with people. He was widely respected, admired and loved especially for his witty sense of humor by all who knew him. Al's favorite places to vacation were in scenic Sedona, AZ and his beloved family home in Silver Lake, NH. He remained a diehard Cornhusker football, Red Sox baseball and New England Patriots football fan throughout his life. Al is survived by his loving wife Tina Hahn Yont, 55, of Scottsdale, AZ, his son Ward, 50, of Buckeye, AZ and his daughter Dawna, 51, with her wife, Heidi, 43, and grandchildren Abigail, 8 and Mia, 3 months, of Basking Ridge, NJ, his sister Louise Ekwall of Lunenberg, MA, step-sister Deborah Howard of Boulder, CO, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who loved him dearly. Al was preceded in death by his brother and best friend Randy, his brother Larry and step-brother Paul. A celebration of his life will take place Sunday March 29, 2015 from 1-4pm at Wally's American Pub in Scottsdale, 7704 E. Doubletree Ranch Rd, Scottsdale, AZ. In lieu of flowers, please stop by to share your stories and memories of Al. Any written stories of Al that you leave with us at this celebration will be shared with family and friends at a private celebration in New Hampshire this summer Arrangements were under the care of Dignity Memorial and Green Acres Mortuary.

Allan's passing leaves a big hole in my world, as it does for so many others. He was a great brother and friend.
