Arthur Hawthorne

Tempe - Arthur Daniel Hawthorne, born on December 29, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Glennys Hawthorne of Mesa, AZ and the late Arthur Calvin Hawthorne, passed away to his heavenly home at age 69 on August 1, 2018 in Tempe, Arizona. Dan or Danny as he was known to family and friends had a passion for boxing and participated in the Iowa Golden Gloves as a young man, and also enjoyed his life long love of motorcycles. He worked at Gilchrest Lumber and was Manager of

Colortyme in both Des Moines and San Francisco, CA. He moved to AZ in the early

90's and had a long career as a Truck Driver at UPS and USPS until retiring in 2010. Arthur was the loving husband of the late Rita Ann Hawthorne. He is survived by their daughters, Danielle Jean Hawthorne and Sarah Ann Hawthorne both of Mesa, AZ; stepdaughter, Kamah Lee Addison of Chino Valley, AZ; and his sons, Daniel Darren Hawthorne and Darrell Dean Hawthorne of Des Moines, IA from his first marriage to Paula Marie Nelson also of Des Moines; sisters, Carla Lynn Bindel of CD Wittmann, AZ and Sherry Renee Bailey of Mesa, AZ. Friends and family members may attend the celebration of life on Friday, August 10 at 12:00 p.m. at Gospel "4" Life Church, 19609 S McQueen Rd, Chandler, Arizona, 85286.

I miss you my good friend. It started as a job as your care giver to seeing you as a father figure and having the honor to call you my father in law at one point I remembered that made you so happy and to give you grand kids I still remember the promises I made buddy I miss you very much and I love you and thank you for being there and believing in me when nobody did. I cherish our time together my friend I hold close to my heart thank you for everything and I'm glad we meet and became family and I know its you that blessed me with the opportunity to be a truck driver thank u my friend I appreciate it alot rest in peace and your missed very much.
