“Too busy with the crowded hour to fear to live or die.” Ralph Waldo Emerson, a great philosopher and writer.
In reflection of my final memory of “Tots” this quote best encompassed the atmosphere for what I now call the most paramount “crowded hour” that I was honored to share.
Upon my last visit to the hospital each minute seemed to slowly turn as loved ones filled “Tots’s” once airy room with long careful breaths and light whispers of “We love you Tots” and “You are not alone” into his ear. Every measured turn of the knob of “Tots’s” room door revealed yet another faithful visitor eager for their father, grandfather, great-grandfather, etc., to hear their words of endearments and hoped that their gentle touches would provide comfort. In the interim of each visitor the devoted wife of “Tots” sat firmly beside her husband with her hand gently grasping his as she prayed to bring her Arthur back home. Sporadic giggles of “Tots’s” great-grandchildren also competed with the steady prayers and tears of their elders. This was just a piece of time I captured in this “crowded hour” enriched with the love of family and friends submerged in devoted faith that never permitted “Tots” the time to fear the next steps of life.
This was a man who lived the essence of courage in every breath and stood true to its significance to the end. I can only thank God that I was so fortunate to have met someone who was so brave, selfless and loved. I feel that it would be a great misfortune for me or for the people who knew “Tots” to not embrace his eternal footprints of love, compassion, selflessness and courage into the future, so that we may all share such a glorious “crowded hour.”

Tata Art, I miss you very much. You are missed so much by all the family. You will always be in our memories as a kind, loving generous man who loved talking to people and making them feel so warm and welcome to your home. I always thought of you as smart sharp -thinking, active man even in your late ages. Your yard and home were always orderly and well manicured. It was always a pleasure to see your back yard with all the vegetation and birds. It was like being at a park.
You also had a character that many of your children and their children possessed... the love and caring for animals. You are in God's care and comfort and peace. Love you forever your granddaughter, Barbara Perez

Tata Art will always have a special place in my heart as do all of the Perez Familia. I remember all the holidays and get togethers and I cherish those memories. He always made me feel part of the family with a firm handshake, a warm welcome and a cold drink. He would talk about his life and offer us fresh oranges from the trees out in back of the house. He was a wonderful man who enjoyed his family and church. He let me know in his words and actions that he was glad I was good to his granddaughter Barbara. He would share his thoughts and offer good advice for life. Tata Art will be missed by everyone that knew him but they need to look no further than thier heart and memories to find him. All my greatest love and respect to him and his familia. John
