Benjamin Redman Obituary

Redman, Benjamin Sterling
45, of Scottsdale, AZ passed away on October 13, 2010. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at La Casa De Cristo Lutheran Church on Monday, October 18 at 3:00 pm. Ben's magnificent life was interrupted and cut short by a rare sarcoma, gastrointestional stromal tumor cancer, which he fought bravely to overcome for the past four years. Ben was born December 20, 1964 in Leon, Iowa. He earned an undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University in 1988 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1994 from Arizona State University. Ben served in the Air National Guard of Iowa and Arizona leaving the military with a rank of Captain in 2006. Ben worked for KB Home, Del Webb and Pulte Homes where he was able to use his creativity in land development and intellect and leadership gifts in management. Ben most enjoyed the years with Del Webb planning and developing a family friendly master planned community in Arizona called Anthem by Del Webb. Before his illness forced his early retirement in 2009, he served as Arizona Division President for KB Home. Ben was passionate about his family, his wife, Kari and three children, McKenzie, Casey and Gage and the rock band KISS. He was a devoted husband, father and fan who always placed family first. He was a loyal and loving son, brother, son-in-law and friend to many people. Ben also loved his hobbies, music and sports and his guitar collection. He taught himself to play guitar, write music and sing. He loved the energy he felt playing and creating music with his band mates. Rock and Roll was his music of choice but he saw the beauty and meaning in all genres. He enjoyed watching, coaching and playing sports and favored the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals in football. Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louise and Clifton Redman and John and Ethel Burrell. Ben's legacy will live on through his wife and three children, his parents and in-laws, Sharon and Larry Long and Suzanne and Jerry Olson, sister Christine Hayes and her family and the thousands of people he touched during his life. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in memory of Ben to Ear Candy Productions, a non-profit organization that provides kids from Arizona access to music education. Their web address is www.EarCandyCharity.org/Donate. Thank you. We will miss him dearly. Rest in peace Ben!

Kari, MacKenzie, Casey and Gage,
Heartfelt sorrow upon hearing of Ben's defeat in his battle with cancer. Ben was warm, friendly fellow and I was proud to have worked alongside him to create Anthem. I also was blessed with knowing all of you through the Iowa State Alumni Association. The Big 8 (later 12) Family Picnic events were a fun time. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. Best wishes in your lives ahead as he will be watching over you.

Dear Kari, Mckenzie,Casey and Gage:
We are so sad that Ben has passed away!
The celebration of life service for him was
really great and touched on what a great person
Ben was. In life you meet a handful of people
that touch your heart and you feel totally
at ease around them, Ben was one of these types
of people! What Ben accomplished and the amount of
people that he touched in his 45 years of life is
a testament to the great person that he was. We
will never forget him and when things are not going
well, we will think of Ben and his awesome attitude
towards life and things will get better. We will
miss you Ben!

Sincerely,

Steven Vollmer
