Brian Garrett Obituary

Garrett, Brian
Brian Christopher Garrett of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on January 28th at the age of 41 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Brian's greatest gift and joy was his music; he was a long-standing member of the Phoenix Boys' Choir, dedicating over 30 years of his life to the organization. Over the course of those years, he traveled the world, sang for Presidents, mentored hundreds of children and performed for thousands. His musical talents were strong and varied, and also included having perfect pitch and playing piano by ear. Brian was also an avid fisherman, devoted husband, son and brother, and lover of God and his family. Memorial services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 13th at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3104 W. Glendale Ave, Phoenix, Arizona, 85051. A lunch/potluck reception will follow. Brian is survived by his wife Diana Elizabeth Garrett, his mother Frances Lee Garrett, his brother Benjamin James Garrett, aunts, uncles and many cousins around the country. He will be missed by all. "Good night sweet prince/and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Phoenix Boys Choir in Brian's memory. I am deeply sadened by the passing of Brian. I first met Brian when we worked together at Blockbuster video in 1998. He was such a kind person and I am shocked that he has passed away at such a young age! He will be deeply missed!

I wish I could have heard Brian sing, but alas I first met him during his struggle with cancer. Even during that difficult time, Brian showed amazing faith, courage and love. He even made me laugh with his amazing sense of humor. I was truly blessed to have known him for even a brief moment here on earth. I can hardly wait to hear him sing in heaven. My sincerest condolences to Diana and the rest of his family.

We are deeply saddened by Brian's loss. He was a kind and understanding mentor to our boys, a dedicated member of the Masters choir and a great friend. His kindness and going way beyond the call of duty has made him a role model for generations of choirboys. Our thoughts and prayers are with Diana and his whole family
