Bryan Robert Pulis Burney

Bryan Burney Obituary

Bryan Robert Pulis Burney. It is with extreme sadness that we are announcing the unexpected passing of our dear son, Bryan Robert on June 1, 2007. He was born on July 23, 1989 to Robert and Mary Jane Burney. He graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Elementary School and then attended Notre Dame Preparatory High School and graduated on May 23, 2007. Bryan was enrolled at Arizona State University beginning in August, which had been his goal and dream since grade school, he loved the Sun Devils. He played all sports growing up and spent many years playing baseball in the Scottsdale Little League, Babe Ruth Ripken, Scottsdale Fall League and at Notre Dame Prep. He also worked at Best Buy doing customer service and previously at Port O Subs and really enjoyed his work. The money he earned went into his beloved car, a sleek silver Mustang GT. He is survived by his loving parents, Bob and Jane; his "Nana", Mary Ann Pulis; his aunts and uncles, "Tanti" Ann and Larry Rouse, Casey and Jane Pulis, Caroline and Rob Wawrzynski, Anita Burney, Barbara and Jr. Iniguez and many cousins and great aunts and uncles as well as countless friends. A visitation is scheduled from 6-8 PM, Thursday, June 7, 2007 with a rosary to follow at 8 PM at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85255. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Friday, June 8, 2007 at St. Patrick's Catholic Community, 10815 N. 84th St., Scottsdale, AZ 85260. In lieu of flowers, the family has established an account at Wells Fargo for the Bryan Burney Scholarship Foundation where contributions will go towards funding a memorial scholarship program for deserving students at his alma maters, OLPH and Notre Dame Prep (Account #7452493997).

Bryan was a dedicated ball player who touched many people. As Arizona Cal Ripken State Commissioner I want to let you know that our Baseball Tournamnets coming up in July will honor Bryan with a moment of silence to reflect on his life.

Mr. and Mrs Burney:
Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear about Byran. I first met Bryan in 2005 when he helped me and Kyle Gossen pick John Tryon up off the ground at the high school one day. When I saw "Big John" go down that day, I called out for someone to help and Bryan just walked right up, smiled that smile of his, and pulled John right up off the ground. I remembered I looked at Bryan and told Kyle-"Lets get out of his way-he can handle this"!!!

Bryan and Tom Fow were always sneaking out of study halls and coming down to the gym to shoot baskets. My office was right across from the gym doors and I would just wink at them when I saw them come in and shut my door. I guess Dean Harris finally caught up to them one day-HA!!!

Bryan was one of the finest young men that I have ever met, my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours.

God Bless
John "Sarge" Winkler

bryan was a fellow student. I met him through my older brother. it was only a week ago that we have spoken to each other. and it was devastating to see my brother take this so hard.my brother matt graduated with bryan and also worked at best buy, and even though he quit he still came and said hi. this is the second funeral that i have gone to as a high school student, and both funerals were for student and friends. it is devastating and i know everybody will pull through it. all we need is time.. and we know it, he is up there right now with caitlyn, and now bryan is about to join her. both people were amazing people. helpful, courageous, loving and good friends. we are here for you mrs and mr burney. we are praying for you both and your son. god bless.

Mr. and Mrs. Burney, you are true inspirations. Your strength, courage, endless love, and dedication to your son has led him to become the respectful man he has been and will continue to be. I didn't know Bryan that well, yet I knew of him. He was known as the teddy bear who caused many, many people around him to smile. I have confidence that he will always be remembered as the kid who everyone wanted to be around. Please never forget that our loved ones never truly leave us, Bryan will find his clever little ways to show you that he is very much apart of your life still. My heart goes out to you and all of Bryan's friends and family members, we will get through this together.

There are no words that can ease your pain and sorrow but we hope that the support of your family and friends will help. Bryan spent alot of time with our son, Connor, at our home and we truly enjoyed him. He was very kind and polite and we will always remember him from little league where we dubbed him "little Baby Ruth". Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
