Carlos Varela Obituary
54, of Phoenix, loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle; passed away on June 21, 2012. He will forever live on through the memories of his wife of 32 years, Reba, and his children Chaz and Benton, his sisters Martha Sharp and Norma Moran, brother Jaime, mother Sarah, and many more family members and friends. Carlos was a Phoenix native who graduated from East high school in 1976 and remained in Phoenix all of his life. Carlos was an entrepreneur who owned and operated a building maintenance company called Elite Property Care. Everyone knew him at the gym on 32nd Street and Camelback where he was affectionately known as "The Mayor". He loved having "the party house" with his boys and enjoyed volunteering his time to JDCA theatre. Carlos was a man who loved the Lord, had a quick wit and great sense of humor. He was a generous thoughtful man who would be there to help you at a moments' notice. He was our "emergency roadside service". Carlos leaves a giant hole in our hearts and will be greatly missed. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Road on Thursday, June 28, at 11:00am with visitation at 10:00am. To my Darling Brother:
Words cannot express how much I miss my precious Carlos. Many know how caring and giving Carlos was. Always willing to be available for anyone. He always complemented his wife Reba on her many talents in business and his sons Chaz and Benton with their talents in Sports. We kept in touch weekly on the boys activities,church small group studies on Tuesday evenings, and family get togethers. He would say "What another Birthday" because I always had to celebrate all occasions. He teased me all the time. Carlos always called me to check up on all of my five kids on how they were doing. Always encouraging them and showed them lots of Love. Every time I saw Carlos I made sure I told him I Loved him and gave him a great big hug and on the phone I told him how much I Loved him too. I Believe the Lord gave me the most beautiful gift with my relationship with my brother Carlos. I cherished it, anytime I got to be with him. We lost him too soon. I happen to know he was very hungry to know the Lord more and more. He loved watching Joel Osteen My heart is so aching to spend more time with him but, my heart is so comforted to know he is happy with our Lord.

He will be greatly missed. I thank the Lord for the strength and compassion he has for me and for all of us. We have an awesome God. Remember to lean on him, ask God to come into your life and let him cleanse your heart and live eternally with him.

There is not much more that I can add that hasn't already been said about this great man. I truly feel blessed to have shared last Christmas Eve with him and his family and will never forget his humor, kindness and generosity!
My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Varela family during this difficult time. In loving memory of such a wonderful man. God Bless Carlos and family!

I knew Carlos from the gym and it wasn't long after joining that he and I were talking a sharing stories about life... There's not much more than I can add that hasn't already been spoken about what a gentle, kind and funny man he was... I'm stunned that he's no longer with us, but he will always hold a special place in my heart. He will be missed!!!

Carlos, you were a light at the Academy Theatre whenever you were around. The light will always remain bright though you are gone. The impression you leave will remain always etched there.

Carlos was my friend from the 24 Hr Fitness gym and I will miss him very much. Along with a gentle and kind spirit, he had an awesome sense of humor. If I needed a smile, he was there. Did he ever tell you the one about ...

Uncle Carlos, I'm so blessed to have been given the opportunity to not only be reunited with you and the family a few years ago but get to know you and see how amazing of a person you truly are.
