Carroll Alexander Obituary
Carroll Jackman Alexander, also called CJ, age 85, of Sun City West, AZ, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, in Hamilton, NJ. Born on June 17, 1918 in Marysville, OH. Mr. Alexander was a former Morrisville resident before moving to Sun City West, AZ in 1978. Mr. Alexander retired in 1980 as a journeymen electrician with the I.B.E.W. (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Columbus, OH and New Jersey where he worked for over 42 years. His last place of employment was with Bechtel Construction Company in Arizona. Mr. Alexander served in the U.S. Army Air Corp as a cadet from 1943 to 1945. His avocation for aviation started when he became base operator at the Old Star Airport in Langhorne. He was the former manager of the Buckeye Airport in Buckeye, AZ and restored fabric planes at that airport. Mr. Alexander was a member of the E.A.A (Experi-mental Aircraft Association), member of the Quiet Birdman ("QBs"), member of the Luke Air force Association at Luke Air force Base, member of the Antique Aircraft Association, member of the Stearman Restoration Association, and he was mentioned in the Book About it All Profiles of American Aviators. He was also a fuel distributor at the Indianapolis 500 from 1954 to 2002. Mr. Alexander was a 32nd Degree Mason Lodge #670 and a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, and a member of the Morrisville United Methodist Church. Husband of the late Fern (Arnold) Alexander and brother of the late Rolland Alexander and Burdena Alexander, he is survived by 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-laws, Lynda A. and Bert E. Fonde, of Hamilton; Marsha A. and David A. Groff, of Elkhart, IN; 5 grandchildren, Bert A. and Patricia Fonde, Scott J. and Kevin A. Weyrauch and Dasha Lamp; 1 brother, Joe F. Alexander, Indianapolis, IN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. from the J. Allen Hooper Funeral Chapel, 41 W. Trenton Ave. Morrisville with the Rev. Frank Sanders, Pastor of the Morrisville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment at Newtown Cemetery.
