Charles Woodford Obituary

Woodford, C. Brad
Charles Bradley "Brad" Woodford was born October 2, 1942, in Safford, AZ and passed a way on December 3, 2014 in Tubac, AZ, after battling cancer for three years. Brad will be fondly remembered by many for his dry sense of humor, quick wit and his fun and easy-going spirit. A sharp-minded professional, Brad worked his entire career in municipal law, serving the Tempe City Attorney's office for 34 years. Afterwards he worked in private practice and established a mentoring program to teach and share his knowledge and experience with city and town attorneys throughout the state of Arizona. An articulate litigator, Brad was intelligent, conscientious and a man of integrity. He was known for giving great advice, both life and legal. A committed and life-long U of A fan, Brad loved the Arizona desert and spending time in Mexico. He was an American patriot, a believer in education and an advocate for the less fortunate. Brad spent his retirement years in Tubac, enjoying the land, traveling, friends, golf and bridge. He leaves behind his wife of 47 years Karen, son Todd (Erica) Woodford, daughter Tiffany (Kevin) Connelly and seven grandchildren: Madison, Brady and Alyssa Woodford and Ian, Aidan, Bridget and Caitlin Connelly. Donations can be made in honor of Brad to the Boys and Girls Club of Santa Cruz County, 590 N. Tyler Ave, Nogales, AZ 85621 or www.clubnogi.com.

I remember Brad Woodford from covering Tempe City Hall. I got his voice mail a lot when calling his office, "This is Brad Woodford, I can't take your call now, because I'm off litigating." Enjoyed his wry sense of humor. I was wondering what was he was up to these days, and sad to read of his passing.

When yous asked Brad "How are you?", he always answered "Average". We all know he just being Brad and that he was way above average. We will miss him now that he has slipped away from us.

I was always struck by Brad's politics -- his underlying appreciation for the rightness of helping people, which he put into practice using his powerful intelligence and his work.

I am so sorry or your great loss. We have lost a great friend in Brad. I am so glad that he came to our last class reunion and were able to catch up on the last few years. I am sorry he never mentioned he was sick, yes a very brave and courageous man. May God bless you and keep you strong during this time of sorrow.

I was Brad's secretary when he first went into private practice with Joe Swan. He was always fair and a great attorney to work for. I learned a lot from him and a part of me will always remember the good days at Trew & Woodford. I kept in touch with him over the years while he was in Tempe. Karen, I know you will miss him terribly and I pray for you and your children.
