Charlotte R. Hellman

Surprise - Charlotte R. Hellman of Surprise, Arizona passed away on May 20, 2021, peacefully with her family by her side. She was born on a snowy day on December 06, 1923, to Rosalind and Joseph Raimist in New York City, and was raised in the Bronx, NY. Married September 07, 1946, to Dr. J. Walter Hellman, 2nd Lieutenant, United States Air Force, she, and her husband are now reunited in heaven in love and honor. Charlotte will be remembered by her six children: Robi Hellman (daughter) of Pasadena, CA, Barnett R. Hellman (son) of Hutto, TX, David B. Hellman (son) & Debbie Hellman (daughter-in-law) of Marshall, NC, Lisa A. Soderquist (daughter) & Craig A. Soderquist (son-in-law) of Cupertino, CA, Leslie N. Hellman (son) of Phoenix, AZ, and Arthur L. Hellman (son) & Jennifer Hellman (daughter-in-law) of Leander, TX; 15 grandchildren, and 10 great, grandchildren.

Charlotte received a BA, New York University, and earned a Master of Arts, Columbia University, NY, with honors. She was a teacher for over 40 years, positively impacting the lives of many students in the many places she and Wally resided: NY, NY, Cincinnati, Ohio, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, and Worcester, MA. Charlotte was President of the American Cancer Society and the Hadassah - Jewish Zionist Organization, for chapters where she lived. She was deeply devoted to practicing her faith of Judaism.

With a passion for adventure, Charlotte travelled to all 50 United States, all Canadian provinces, and many countries throughout Europe and Asia. She will be remembered by her many friends as an excellent Bridge player, a fashionable dresser, and an avid reader.

Charlotte was more than a remarkable woman; she was a Lady of Grace. Interment was held at the Veteran's National Cemetery at Cave Creek, Arizona. Sinai Mortuary coordinated the details and Rabbi Dana Kaplan officiated the service on Monday, May 24, 2021.
