Edward Arroqui Obituary

EDWARD R. ARROQUI died August 17, 2004 age 90 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born in Santa Barbara, CA. January 12, 1914 where he grew up. He entered the Army in 1942 and served in the Signal Corp as a high speed radio operator in Africa and Italy during WWII. He also served with the 40th Infantry Division in Japan and Korea in 1951 and 1952, retiring from the Army in 1967, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Ed and his wife, Julia, were very active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Before joining the Army, Ed's occupation was gardening. His love for gardening continued throughout his life, and after moving to Arizona, he worked in the Memorial Garden at All Saints Episcopal Church every week until his illness last December. Ed was a kind and gentle man - stout of heart as well as body, who will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Eddie is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Julia, and his daughter, Barbara While. He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Pine of Yucaipa, CA; grandchildren Debbie Hylkema, Mike While, Terrie Davis; niece Linda Davison; four great grandchildren; one great-great grandson and four step-children: Mary Lou Duffey Neumann-Fitkin, David D. Duffey, Julia Duffey Bullington and Nancy Duffey Mitchell. Memorial gifts may be sent to either Hospice of The Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014, or All Saints Episcopal Church (Garden Beautification Fund), 6300 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85012. Memorial service will be held at All Saints at 10 AM on Thursday, September 23rd.
