E. Garth Lamb, 81, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on June 6, 2016. He was a native Arizonian, being a third generation Gilbert pioneer. Born in Mesa but lived in Gilbert his entire life. He was greatly respected and admired by his family and all who knew him. He was a third generation dairyman, prominent farmer, rancher, and owner of Rawhide Livestock Auction in Chandler, providing an efficient marketplace for the Arizona livestock industry during the 70's and 80's. He was an innovative, progressive farmer, and worked with the U of A and ASU agriculture departments to improve Arizona cotton growing practices and was often involved with seed company test plots. He also worked with the Gila River Indian Community to improve a large tract of unimproved desert lands into a thriving farm operating as Lamb Farms. He also spent 10 years ranching in Shidler, Oklahoma specializing in registered Saler cattle with an outstanding 97% calf crop. Garth had a love for his family, anything agricultural and for his animals. He is survived by the love of his life, Elaine and three children, Todd, Tina Riggs and Ty. They have 10 grand children and 15 great grandchildren. He was an outstanding athlete- loving football and basketball, student body president, star regional dairy farmer awards recipient in the Gilbert FFA Chapter and State 3rd Vice President, and a 4-H Leader for many years. He attended ASU and was on the competition rodeo team. He also supported many Christian ministries and had a great faith and love for Jesus Christ and His mission to the world, reaching lost souls for Jesus. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Our loss is heaven's gain. In memory of him and in lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Valley would be greatly appreciated. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church of Gilbert, 331 S Cooper Rd., Gilbert, Arizona, Tuesday, June 14th at 10 am with a luncheon for the immediate family following. Meldrum Mortuary handled arrangements.
