Ferd Goldsmith Obituary
Goldsmith, Ferd H. Age 88, passed peacefully at home with family in Phoenix, AZ on December 19, 2020, after a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Dora Irma (Fernandez) Goldsmith; children Kevin (Lisa) and Jason (Gretchen); step-children Hernan Ricardo, Hernan Oliver, Max, and Alexis; and grandchildren Elena, Benjamin, Chelsea, Steven, and Claudia.
He was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Helen (Pontrello), and siblings Roger, Kenneth, and Janet Lee.
He proudly served as a heavy machinery operator in both the US Army and Air Force during the Korean War and was a crane operator extraordinaire at Republic Steel for 30 years.

I'm so sorry for your loss of this wonderful man.
I officiated his wedding to Irma (I guess "Dora" was her first name, but she used "Irma" with us). I was happy that he had found love again. I also knew Helen, briefly, as she passed not long after I joined the Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix (HSGP). She was a lovely woman - (HSGP) actually has a coveted annual award - the "Helen Goldsmith Awards" - we give out each year to an outstanding member or two.
Ferd was one of a kind -- bright and always smiling and laughing. He had a great sense of humor, which is what I will always remember about him. Although I hadn't seen him in a few years (and I heard he was ill, but didn't know the details), I will greatly miss him.

Ferd was a lifetime member of the Humanist Society of Greater Phoenix, and was the husband of Helen Goldsmith, for whom our annual award to outstanding Humanists is named, until she passed away. My husband, Zenaido Quintana, and I wish to express our gratitude for all that Ferd and Helen meant to HSGP, and to offer our deepest sympathy to Irma and all of the family.
