Frances Philpott Obituary

Philpott, Frances J. "Fran, Francie"
75 of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away October 29, 2009. Born in Akron, Ohio to Anna and Nicolai Bailey, the youngest of ten siblings, all deceased prior but two surviving brothers, Steve (Nettie) Bailey of Uniontown, Ohio and Ted Bailey of Barberton, Ohio. Also preceded in death by loving husband DeWayne Philpott, Phoenix, Arizona. Survived by daughter Debra (Val) Sawhill of Akron, Ohio; sons Christopher (Lisa) Philpott of Surprise, Arizona, Robert (Joyce) Philpott of New River, Arizona and Keith Philpott last known North Carolina; grandchildren Anna, Nikki, Roxanne, Akron, Ohio; David (Tracey) Phoenix, Michael (Shannon) Phoenix, Michael, North Carolina, Ethan and Samantha, Phoenix; great grandchildren Bryson, Carson, Zachary, and Justin, Phoenix; sisters in law, nieces, nephews and friends. Special friends and angels Barb, Sammy and Joel, the Ladies at Glenn Eagles Golf Course. Special thank you to daughter in law Joyce – You stepped up to the plate and became our angel as you helped care for Mom. Special thank you to Dr. Mamani and staff; the Romanoff family and staff of Five Roses/Happy Valley Assisted Living and Hospice of the Valley staff. God Bless you all. Thank you to all for all the prayers, love and support. Our beautiful, energetic, gifted Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, Sportswoman (bowler/ golfer), creative cook, excellent gardener, all around hard worker, lover of animals, faithful friend and always proud of her Slovak heritage, stubbornly succumbed to Neuroendocrine Cancer of the Lung after a two year roller coaster ride. Mom would say she "did it to herself" having been a smoker most of her adult life, kicking the habit in 2000. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to The American Cancer Society or any Hospice of your choice. Strong in her Christian faith as a Byzantine Catholic, we know she is at peace with Jesus and together again with our Dad, DeWayne. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass and interment at St. Stephen's Byzantine Catholic Church, Friday, November 6, 2009 at 10:00 am, Funeral Liturgy with memorial after mass; interment and luncheon to follow. Arrangements by Hansen Arrowhead Funeral Center. Please visit www.hansenmortuary.com to send online condolences.

I am so sad to hear of Francie's battle and eventual demise. Just last month I was perusing our KHS 53' yearbook and when I came to her picture, thought I should send her a note. Sadly, grief from another death got in the way. I remember her so fondly, what fun we had in the library, and how I enjoyed her wry humor and her beautiful smile.

Condolences to all who loved her; she was a special human being.

My condolences are with the family and my prayers go out to Debbie and the girls, what a courageous person and family you are. I remember the times I would help her wash her car in the garage at my mom's house. What a joy to be around her. Again my sympathy.

My prayers, thoughts & condolences are with all the family at the loss of our beloved aunt. I will always remember Aunt Francie as a great and giving person. I wish I was able to be there for the memorial. I know that my mom and the boys and grandma and grandpa are there to welcome her home to the Lord's house. Love, Susie Wiechec
