I had no idea this was still active. But I'll share a couple of memories that stand out to me. At Gila, I was a guest of the family for a week or so one summer and was stunned at the cliff dwellings that were then so accessible. I think it was there that I saw corncobs still present. I also recall time I spent with the family at the cabin in Nutrioso when one day took the time to French-braided my hair and was exasperated when I returned without them.
Once, I think at Gila, I'd found a large thing that looked like a safety pin on the ground. I asked Frank what it was and he said it looked like a horse blanket pin. When I pestered others about this, said he just thought so, my mother said, "well he's not a know-it-all." I've always remembered that about Frank. He didn't make pronouncements. This memory is dear to me.
Thanks for asking,
Laura Arnold

Your kindness and patient teaching is missed. A child couldn´t have asked for a better influence. You are missed.

I've thought of you all often and only just saw this notice. I will continue to think of you with fond memories of time spent with you in my childhood and all I learned from Frank and Mary.

I would like to say what a lovely remembrance of this gentleman this landmark is. I have hiked this mountain for many years and always enjoy this quote, the view, and a moment of meditation at this bench.

My memories of Mr. Plettenberg are some of the warmest from my childhood. I especially loved the hike to Betatikin in Navajo National Monument on my 10th birthday. He was a kind, gentle man and a caring and patient teacher. My thoughts are with Mrs. Plettenberg, Coreen and Lee.
