Grace Sabal Obituary

Sabal, Grace Gaston
of Chandler, Arizona, passed away on May 27, 2017. Grace was born in Davao, Philippines on June 18, 1949. She attended high school at Sta. Teresita's Academy near Silay City, then attended Xavier University-Ataneo de Cagayan in Cagayan de Oro where she received a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics in 1969. Grace employed her talents in a variety of positions over the years. Her first job was with Bank of the Philippine Islands in Cagayan de Oro. She later moved to Makati City working for the same bank. She immigrated to the U.S. in June 1980. She worked at Marvel Comics in New York in the office of Public Relations. She also worked as a consultant for Bristol Myers in charge of special events including the annual awards programs for cancer prevention and research, as well as other awards programs. Grace married Dr. Gerardo C. Sabal, Jr. on September 26, 1992. Grace loved her family. Grace lived for her family. Grace sustained her family with her good heart, her good head and her good soul. She was the greatest chef, a world traveller, a tour guide extraordinaire, and number one fan and cheerleader at her grandchildren's sporting events and performances. Grace was a lifelong Catholic, and was an active member of St. Mary's Parish in Chandler, where she consistently involved herself in various charities promoting education and social welfare, most notably the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Grace is preceded in death by her father Fernando Gaston. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Gerardo Sabal, Jr., her stepchildren Sheryl Papadoloulos, Rochelle Ryan, Archibald Sabal and Wendell Sabal; her grandchildren Alexander Ryan, Madeleine Ryan, Tatiana Papodopoulos, and Kevin Sabal; her mother Emparatriz Gaston, her sisters Daisy Johns and Ma. Theresa Tanedo and her brothers Dennis Gaston Segundo Gaston and Cliff Anthony Gaston. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 230 West Galveston, Chandler Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace's favorite charities: St. Vincent de Paul Society and Xavier University-Ataneo de Cagayan.

You will surely be missed by your family and friends. Sorry to hear that you left all of us, my dear high school friend but all the things that you were and you did will always be kept fondly in our hearts. I will miss everything about Gracie with every beat of my heart. She was a great gift to me and to the entire planet. I am so grateful to have had her in my life, and I love her completely. I treasure each and every memory.
