Iris Ruddy

Ruddy, Iris Mittendorf
died Friday, November 30, in Scottsdale. She was 88. Dr. Ruddy moved to the Phoenix area in 1992. She twice served as president of her local chapter of the Arizona General Federation of Women. Dr. Ruddy taught for many years in the St. Louis area. She had a passion for teaching and was especially fond of teaching seventh and eighth graders. She taught junior high for many years in Webster Groves, Missouri. In 1974, she was awarded a Ph.D. in history by St. Louis University, and subsequently taught in the Saint Louis County Community College district. Dr. Ruddy's husband, Edward M. Ruddy, died in 2004. She is survived by her three children, Dr. Barbara Ruddy (Stephen Germick), of Scottsdale; Edward Michael Ruddy, Jr., (Rachel Ruddy) of Phoenix; and Sara Ruddy (Christopher Michel), of Berkeley, California; and by five grandchildren, Liana and Shanae Germick, and David, John, and Mark Michel-Ruddy.
