Sun City resident Jack Kenneth Fowler, age 96, passed away on August 9, 2016. Jack was born in Akron, Ohio on November 7, 1919 to Glen and Helen Fowler. He graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Chemistry and Physics and worked at the Ravenna (OH) Arsenal during WWII as a powder and explosives chemist. Following the war, he completed his Pharmacy degree at Case Western Reserve University and joined his father at the Fowler Drug Company in Ravenna, where he practiced until 1970. He retired to Sun City West, Arizona in the mid-1980s. Jack was actively involved in his community serving on the Ravenna School Board and as a Portage County (OH) County Commissioner. He assumed leadership and volunteer roles in multiple civic and service organizations during his lifetime, including Rotary, the Sun City West Computer Club, and was a 32 degree Master Mason. Jack is survived by his daughter Jeannie Donie (Glendale, AZ); 3 grandchildren: Benjamin Donie (Chandler, AZ), Jonathan Donie and Gabriela Donie (Frisco, TX), and one great-granddaughter, Charlotte (Chandler, AZ). A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Shepherd of the Hills United Methodist Church 13658 W. Meeker Blvd. Sun City West, AZ 85375 with interment in the church Columbarium immediately following the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages charitable contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or Hospice of the Valley.
