Jack Wiechert Obituary

Wiechert, Jack Chester
Jack Chester Wiechert, 79, a long-time Glendale, AZ resident, was lovingly accepted into the arms of Jesus on January 27, 2014, at 10:32 p.m. Jack was born on November 15, 1934, in Salt Lake City, UT to Lucile and Chester Wiechert where he spent his youth with siblings, Robert and Janet. Jack was the last to rejoin his birth family in heaven. He enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduating Jordan High School in Sandy, UT and proudly served in the Korean War as a military policeman. Jack left the USAF to pursue a career in information technology where he worked as a programmer, instructor, systems analyst, and department manager. Jack accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his 20's and was well versed in scripture and not only spoke it but lived it. Jack loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing at a lake or at his beloved hunting location on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. He enjoyed playing cards, old western and military movies, Hank Williams Sr., day trips, and tinkering with cars. More than anything Jack loved his family. While his dry sense of humor, wisdom, compassion and unconditional love will be greatly missed, these qualities will continue to serve as the standard we use to measure ourselves. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nataleen Goforth Wiechert, and children Dirk (Sheryl), Michael (Laura), Amanda, Mark and granddaughter Destini. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday February 22nd at Apollo Baptist Church, 11611 N. 51st Avenue, Glendale. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either the Alzheimer's Association or the NRA.
