James Moore Bowman

James Moore Bowman went to be with the Lord on Sunday morning August 27, 2006. He passed away peacefully in a Phoenix area hospital surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born in Memphis, TN on November 21, 1929. He was the son of the late Bessie Moore Bowman and James Calvin Bowman. He moved to Amory, MS at the age of 7 where he graduated from Amory High School. He graduated from the University of Redlands in California, spent 37 years working for Farmers Insurance, retiring as Regional Manager of the Los Angeles Region. He was a resident of Los Angeles for 40 years before retiring to Phoenix, AZ in 1994. Throughout life, Jim was an active church member both in leadership as a deacon and in worship as a member of the choir. He was also a talented instrumentalist, playing trumpet in various concert bands. He will best be remembered for his love of the Lord and his family. He enjoyed being outdoors, particularly on family camp-outs, participating in sports, especially golf which was his passion. He was also an avid photographer. Jim is survived by his beloved spouse of 51 years: Mary Jeanne Wooley Bowman; sons: Dale (Pam) of La Verne, CA, Neal (Debbie) of Glendale, AZ, 6 grandchildren: Ryan, Scott, Shelby, Brett, Nate, and Tori, sister: Martha (Bobby) Wilson, nephew: Rob (Bari) Wilson and their daughters: Sarah, Hannah, and Leah, all of Jefferson City, TN. Jim's life was celebrated on Tues, August 29, 2006 at Palmcroft Baptist Church, Phoenix, AZ, Pastors Don Engram and Dan Gavaza officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Sunland Memorial Park Mortuary, Sun City, AZ.
