I remember "Doc" always standing outside of HHS greeting his students with a smile, a good morning and opening the door. Sometimes a little small talk. He had an open door policy. Had his office with windows facing the hall instead of walls. Always a fun principal. I had been to 5 high schools in 2 years,Horizon being the 5th. We moved a lot and I was not happy to land there or anywhere at that point. His smile and the care he had about his students made it so much better. He was a great man. And will be missed

Jim Gleason was the Asst. Vice Principal while I was a Junior / Senior at Shadow Mountain High School, 1978. He along with his cousin Jim Jensen visited me while I was in college at USC and indeed we remained cordial for more than 30 years. A helluva a swell man with a big heart and an even bigger laugh. Sad to hear of his passing.

Jim has served passengers as a Navigator at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport for 6 years. He was loved by both our passengers and his fellow Navigators and Staff. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

I was fortunate to meet Jim when he purchased his townhome. I worked in the sales trailer after the hotel was sold. Jim came over to chat many times and I enjoyed him so very much! He will be missed. He even came out twice to where I now work and had lunch with Ron Early, Tom Steward and me. God bless Jim. My prayers go out to him and his family.

What to say about such a big man in my life. I have not seen Jim in a while and yet he lives in my heart as the most animated, fun person I have ever known. I am thankful for the small part of life I spent working with Jim when we opened Desert Shadows Middle School. I am grateful for his friendship that is always. Jim will live for me until we meet again, the pictures is frozen in someone's kitchen at a party and his conspiratorial voice saying, "Let's get so and so going." And then the good natured fun ensued.
