Lissy, Sonny and Monte,
I have talked about how great it was to grow up in Mesa South Stake with a miriad of "Dads" that, as a group, consited of every type of role model. Big John was the Dad we looked to to show us how to be a spiritual person without losing any of the masculinity we all wanted. If there is a "Mormon Man's Man", it is your Dad. I saw him last at Wilbur's funeral and he looked so good I was sure he would outlive us all.

God Bless and God Speed. I remember him as a quiet man at all the Mortensen family functions.I always felt very welcome and loved. May we meet again one day. Prayers and thoughts are sent out to his family.

Lanny & Family,
We just learned of John's passing. So very sad. He was a great man and did so much for me in the Bishopric and as a dear friend. We would love to be there with you at this time, but are in Florida and are unable to return. All of you are in our prayers.

Dear Lanny & Family, Our prayers are with you; "eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those who love Him." 1Cor2:9. Delos "Del" & Bobbie Taylor. Mesa

Lanny, we read about John's passing in the paper today and are greatly saddened. What great times we had many years ago when we were all young. Even though we haven't seen you in years you and John have remained in our memories. Bill is recently home from the hospital after back surgery and is unable to attend the viewing at this time, however, please accept our condolences and know that our thoughts of John are forever happy.

Hogle family -

The news of John's passing finds me searching for words to express my deep sorrow and remorse. He was a joyful man, with purpose in life, whose smile and good sense of humor was shared with everyone he met.

May the many memories he helped create find root in your hearts and bring sweet recollection to your minds over the coming days as you both mourn and celebrate his life.
