Kathy and Family, I just wanted to say that "Uncle John" was not just my uncle he was my buddy, i could tell him anything, about anything. We had some good times while being very young coming to Calif. on vacation to an adult, always made me laugh and everyone else. I will miss him very much, he was a very big part of my life. I will always cherish the fun times he and uncle buddy and I have had over the years. We will miss you, your nephew,,Billy

"Big John". He became my mentor on the night of my arrival into Yuma in 1990. As I was a "candidate" to become a Shriner, Jack Garrett asked John to look out for me. I don't believe he ever stopped looking out for me.
Always their to lend a hand or advice, he gave me many a tip on riding that Harley. Then came the long rides to and from St. Louis in 1997. Talk about some laughs along the way with a great deal of wisdom added as well.
His wit and story telling ability will last with us forever. We are all blessed to have had John in our lives.
May God be with you Kathy.

Kathy and Children: I have many great memories of my Uncle John. Yes all of them are great memories! I think we all have a "best uncle" and I will say that he is mine. There are many things that stand out for me -- probably all of the many laughs - never a dull moment, my first major league baseball was with him, I worked with him for a summer, and of course deep sea fishing. I can tell you that 10 minutes with Uncle John is a lifetime of laughter and fun. God Bless all of you during this time of grief but hopefully alot of laughter -- Uncle John would insist! Love and many thoughts for all of you during this time -- God Be with All of You from Mike and Karen Starr / Wilson, NC
