Our deepest stympathy to the family.
John was a one of a kind. I am very happy to have had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we journey through life, there are very few people to whom we can truly say, “ it’s a true pleasure to make your acquaintance”. For me, John Lassen was one of those few. He had the unique ability to strike up a conversation with anyone, no matter their station in life. Didn’t matter if it was in the hallways or cafeteria at SRP or a chance encounter at our local Oles’, Angels’, or Home Depot, he would always say “Hi” and strike up a conversation.
I worked for the Salt River Project (SRP) from Oct 1965 to July of 2004 and over many years, I had several “chats” with John. Several years ago, at one of the annual golf tourneys in Pinetop, AZ, hosted by John & Elinor, John & I had the occasion to share a golf cart for 18 holes of golf.
I found that John could converse on any subject and could offer his opinions ranging from national politics to a putting stroke on the golf course and everything in between. Oh yes, John could argue his opinions, but he would listen to yours as well. And yes, he could get angry at a bad golf swing or a bad result from a good golf swing... just like the rest of us.
John always seemed genuinely concerned about the well being of others. Always asking how are you feeling, discussing our latest aches and pains as we both got older. “Genuine”, I guess that describes John Lassen to me, a uniquely “genuine” man.
John R. Lassen Sr, “it was a true pleasure to make your acquaintance”.
May you Rest in Peace.

I was an employee of SRP for all but 2 years of John's service to the company. We both left in the same year. John was an Icon who stood for integrity keeping SRP at the forefront of the industry. SRP was well respected because of the leadership of men like John. It was an honor to be associated with him.

We were so very sorry to hear about John. He was a fine man, and he meant so much to his community of faith at St. Augustine's. May God bless all his family at this sad time and in the months and years to come.
