Karen, Kyle and Amy: I'm so sorry about John. He was such a great person...always cheerful and helpful. We worked together at AGFD for several years, and I went to Carl Hayden HS with John. May God give you strength and peace knowing that John is no longer suffering.

John Lonon is among others a part of my past and my future. I knew John when he worked in the basement at Deer Valley South with Jack Thompson. They got a pallet stuck in the elevator after they finished a printing job. I had only seen John get mad once in all the years I knew him, and all I could do was laugh and he got even madder. But when I told him that I was laughing with him not at him. And, I told him that he was only human, and don't take it personal, worry about what you have control over and not about things you can't control, it makes life easier. After that we could always talk to one another. I will always have very special memories of the good and not so good time that we had together. We spent many hours working together and when I needed a hand John was there. It was the same when John needed a hand. As supervisiors in the same branch we were always in meetings together and we helped each other.
My deepest condolences to his family.
He will be missed, but not forgotten from the Arizona Game and Fish Department Family.

John Lonon and I shared a lot in our years at the agency, including spending a lot of time working in the civil defense shelter in the basement of Deer Valley South. We used the big room next to the print shop there as the temporary space for draw processing. John could really knock out the work and was always a smiling, pleasant co-worker and friend. Jack Thompson and John were a pretty good team of printers in those days and they picked up my spirits on many occasion due to their good natured approach to work life. John was one of the good ones in the bunch I worked with. I don't remember very many “sour grapes and most that come to mind didn't stick around long. They just didn't belong in the bunch! John certainly did. I was greatly saddened to learn that cancer had struck down yet another good person, but I am also comforted to read that he is with the Heavenly Father in a lot of really good company. He is and will be missed.

My deepest condolences to Karen and the family. Dave Smith
