Kenneth Hamblin Obituary

Kenneth P. Hamblin

Lakeside - Kenneth P. Hamblin, 91, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 in Lakeside, Arizona. Ken was born on July 1, 1929, in Norwood, Ohio to Jerome and Goldie (Johnson) Hamblin. He was the oldest of 10 children.

At the age of 14, his family moved to Arizona where Ken lived most of his life. In 1948, he joined the Army and served until 1950 in Hawaii just before the Korean War started. He worked in Munitions there and later in his life work, he served 30 years for the Arizona Department of Transportation as Manager of the State Highway's Maintenance Contracting program, a function which he developed and implemented for ADOT.

Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed horses, silversmithing, playing his guitar, and building projects, such as his cabin in Happy Jack, Arizona. The fireplace on the cabin was so large, his neighbors suggested just cutting an entire tree down and letting it fall right into the fireplace.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Jerome and Goldie (Johnson) Hamblin, brothers Jerry, Harold, and Darrel Hamblin; sisters, Loretta, Pauline Wasson, Ruth Mayo, and Mona Bratcher. He was married to Esther Supinger Hamblin (now deceased) for 65 years and they had 3 daughters together, Rebecca Lynn Perry, Dorothy Ann Dawn, and Elizabeth Painter. They enjoyed 8 grandchildren, Ken, Brent and Aaron Perry, Jennifer and Janis Dawn, Jessica, Darla, and Alyssa Painter, along with 14 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandson, along with a host of nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. We are very thankful for the many friends who brightened Kens final days and supported him in prayers.

On Wednesday, February 17th, 2021, a time of visitation from 12:30 to 2pm will be held, along with a memorial service in the chapel beginning at 2pm at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 7900 E. Main Street, Mesa, AZ. 85207 (480-832-2850).
