Kevin Hauser Obituary

Kevin Wayne Hauser

Camp Verde - Kevin Wayne Hauser, age 59, of Camp Verde died December 27, 2019 after a 2-year battle with colon cancer. He passed away at home surrounded by family and friends who loved him. Kevin was born in Phoenix AZ on November 29, 1960, and was the only son of Richard and Brenda Hauser.

When Kevin was eight his family moved to Camp Verde and began farming. From the beginning, he was his dad's partner and together they established Hauser and Hauser Farms, which today produces walnuts and oranges in California and pumpkins, watermelons, alfalfa, barley and sweet corn in Arizona. Kevin was a 4th generation farmer and loved everything about it. He was also a steward of the land and worked hard to protect it and the waters that supported the agriculture he loved. His partnership with the Nature Conservancy will help preserve the Verde River and its natural wildlife, protect his Camp Verde farms from future development, and ensure there will always be farms along the Verde River.

Kevin loved his family and friends, Camp Verde, fishing, fish frys, going out for breakfast, ping pong, skiing, riding his bike, remote-control planes, farm shows, being a pilot, Christmas, and the Green Bay Packers. He loved life and never stopped thinking about new opportunities or a better way to do something. He was a man who never looked for conflict, only solutions.

Kevin leaves a legacy built with resolve and hard work. He is survived by his parents (Richard and Brenda), grandmother (Naoma), sisters Kim (Gregg), Kristi (Ron), and Kerri (Manny), his wife Claudia, daughter Emily, sons Chance (Christine), Zachary (Sherry) and Ben, grandchildren Bentleigh, Brody, Cylo, Ivy, Owen, and Olive, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter Shasta, his grandparents, and friends Trevor, Earl, Billy, and Jamie.

On Saturday January 11th at 11:00 am there will be a celebration of Kevin's life at the farm on 3100 S. Old Church Road in Camp Verde. A private burial service will take place at the Pecan Lane farm following the service, where Kevin will be laid to rest in a beautiful spot he chose where he can keep an eye on the river, the fields, and his family.

In lieu of flowers, Kevin requested donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Center at stjude.org

Never had the pleasure to meet Kevin, however I did get to speak with him on the phone on a couple different occasions inquiring about the retriever trucks. An absolute pleasure to deal with, a wealth of information and kind and patient as well. Sorry to hear of his passing. May the peace that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts and minds thru Christ Jesus.

It was Heather and my honor to have visited with Kevin over the past couple of years. He is free of his earthly burdens and no doubt increasing the yield in heavens fields.

August 30th 2017, my friend Kevin Hauser happened to be in California checking in on his orange and walnut farms. As typical for him, he wanted to know what other things I was up to besides "just work". He and I had over the years had struck a chord in each other, that found us both willing to blend some "play time" while the work was getting done. He was an amazing individual that loved; to see any kind of machinery, meet somebody new, fix things, fix things on neighbors property, watch the Green Bay Packers win, but he most importantly LOVED his wife, kids and grandkids. Kevin was so talented that he could converse in Spanish just as easily as speaking English, weld up pieces of metal to create machines of his own design, sell those machines that he had a patent on, grow corn that had people making pilgrimages to buy at his farm, negotiate a sale/or buy, manage farms in two states, fly an airplane, and do so much more. He was a humble guy that downplayed all that he was, by always wearing a white "Hauser & Hauser" t-shirt, jeans, and lace up working boots. The dirt and stains presented on his clothing were all earned from his willingness to solve the problems of the day. Through it all he was always happy, so many upbeat moments I shared with him, it's hard to say goodbye. This particular day in August, found us just west of the Kings Canyon National Park about 5,000 ft elevation. Kevin strolled around this old turn of the century logging property admiring the machinery that was in disarray on the ground, he took in the grandeur of the redwoods and pines. There was an outcropping of rocks that afforded a view of the valley and it was impressive, the undulating landscape, blue sky with wispy clouds, and there was Kevin happy as ever... Rest In Peace Amigo

My memories of Kevin are such happy ones. Showing me around his many farms with such pride. He was truly a farmer through and through. I remember his devotion to his six grandchildren. He leaves quite a legacy for Chance, Zach, Ben and Emily. He will be greatly missed by his extended family and many friends. My daughter Claudia was by his side until the end. I will miss his wonderful smile and also his love of the Packers. Clare Witcomb - Red Lodge, Montana

Dearest Kim, Brenda, and all of you in the wonderful Hauser family -- what an amazing person Kevin was on so many levels -- how beautiful that he will continue to peacefully watch over the glorious fields of labor you have all worked so hard on...I am grateful for all the times, when I lived in the Verde Valley, that I got to visit your lovely farm; it was always so peaceful and such a gift to be part of the land you enriched... may God rest Kevin's soul and bless you all. Much love, Jane Wells and family...
