Kyleigh Sousa Obituary

Sousa, Kyleigh Ann
21, of Point Pleasant, passed away in Tempe AZ, on Thursday May 26, 2010. Kyleigh was a junior at Arizona State University in Tempe and was currently a waitress at The Tavern on Mill. She was also a "sweetheart" for the Epsilon Omega chapter of Kappa Alpha order. Prior to moving to Arizona, Kyleigh worked at The Patio in Point Pleasant Beach and the Starkey-Kelly Law Firm in Brick. She was a graduate of St. Joe's Grammar School in Toms River, and a 2007 graduate of Point Pleasant Boro HS where she was a member of both the swim team and cheerleading squad. Born in Toms River, Kyleigh also lived in Brick before moving to Point Pleasant six years ago. Although gone far too soon, her loving and vivacious spirit will live on in all who knew her. We will love you forever. Surviving are her father, Duarte Sousa of Point Pleasant; mother Karen Zitzow Montenegro and her husband Nicholas of Point Pleasant; brother Bernie and wife Lauren Sousa of Maple Glenn, PA; brother Michael Sousa of Point Pleasant; maternal grandparents William and Barbara Zitzow of Oklahoma City, OK; paternal grandparents Antonio Sousa and the late Maria Sousa of Elizabeth; uncle Mark Zitzow and his wife Tish of Oklahoma City, OK; aunt Barbara Sousa of Aberdeen; many cousins and the most amazing group of friends anyone could ask for. Visitation will be held at O'Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, on Wednesday June 2 from 2-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church, Point Pleasant Beach, on Thursday June 3 at 11am. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle. In lieu of flowers, Kyleigh's family request donations to The Kyleigh Ann Sousa Memorial Foundation, c/o Montenegro Law Firm, 531 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick, NJ. Did not know your Beloved One. But we feel so heartfelt sick for your loss. We used to live in Brick, and now up North. My children are the same ages, and my daughter a cheerleader also. I can't imagine the pain, but just want you to know, we here in our community speak of this tragedy, and pray for God to comfort you in this horrible time of loss. Those who don't know you care and will keep you in their prayers. We understand loss and tragedy. And that no words nor even time can heal. But just know that many pray for your family.

No one can possibly know how this must feel and no combination of letters on a screen can possibly make it any better... Please know that Kyleigh Ann is with you all, both here on Earth and in Heaven, where you will NEVER be seperated from one another again. My heart is heavy and my prayers for you are strong. May you find peace and comfort until you see her again.

To the entire Zitzow family, having been a Winfield resident all of my life, I have known most of your family and I have to say I was very sad to hear about Kyleigh. Even though I didn't know her personally, she sounds and looks like an Angel. I am so sorry for your loss. Always cherish the "great" memories you had with Kyleigh and her spirit will live on forever!!

I did not know your beautiful daughter Kyleigh, however, having a child myself close in age I can only imagine what a devastating and heartbreaking loss this must be for you all! Be assured, however, she is in a very special place in heaven as I am certain she was a very special person here on earth. God bless you all and help you through this time.
