I remember the summer vacations we spent in Phoenix as kids. Uncle Lang picking up Whataburgers or Little Ceaser's pizza - thinking he knew where to get the BEST FOOD (we didn't have either franchise in Texas). I fondly remember sitting in the booth in the kitchen and eatting breakfast when Uncle Lang would arrive home after a round of golf. Loved the smile and laugh, and glad to know that my Dad and Jesus are enjoying his company now.

Rest Lang, until you hear at dawn,
the low, clear reveille of God.

Thank you for your service to this nation.

I remember playing golf with Uncle Lang, Henry and Stanley a couple years ago and how enjoyable it was (he was always generous about handing out the mulligans and "nice shot" compliments) even though he was the only one who could hit straight as an arrow off the tee. When he got his Pings, he was quick to loan me his tour models and "no slice" driver. When I asked him when he wanted them back, he said with a big smile, "Use them as long as you want!" Uncle Lang had a great influence on my tastes in cars (remember the tan Chevrolet El Camino?) and of course the white Oldsmobile station wagon with the faux wood panelling and "sky light" windows. Whenever our family would eat at the Tang's Cathay, I would always look forward to eating the fried chop suey noodles and ordering the fried shrimp with sweet and sour sauce (as a child, I was baffled by ring shaped shrimp). After living nearly 50 years in Glendale and moving to Tempe, I asked him if he missed the old house and neighborhood. He laughed with a big smile and said, "Heck no! This is the best decision he could have made". I will always remember his stern demeaner that was always followed by a big smile and assuring laughter. With his weathered navy blue slacks and well worn rockports, Uncle Lang was a great example of humility, kindness, generosity and unselfishness. He will be missed, but we are comforted knowing that he is with the Father in heaven.

Dear Mary, Doug, Denise, Sue and Families,

Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers during this time. We know that "good ol' Lang" is resting peacefully reunited in Heaven with other loved ones. Lang was always so nice to us and I liked talking to him about ASU Sports because he was candid about the teams and their results on the field or court. I will miss him dearly.
