Lark Ann Vargas Obituary

Vargas, Lark Ann
63, passed away December 28th 2012 with all of her family present by her side. Lark loved reading, teaching, creating art, and traveling. She was born on Wednesday, October 12, 1949 to parents Valerie Van Schaack and Paul Eston Longfellow in Altadena, California. She is survived by her husband of 42 years Frank (Chico) Vargas, three children; Michael, Jay, and Carrie Vargas; granddaughter and namesake Lark O. Vargas and sister Lynn Macdonald. Lark and Chico's journey began in Flagstaff, AZ while attending Northern Arizona University, an academic tradition all three children also participated in. The couple eventually settled in Phoenix, AZ where Chico continued his teaching and coaching career. After successfully raising three loving children, Lark also pursued a teaching career, became an amazing elementary school educator, and eventually received her master's degree in education from NAU in 1999. Later in life Lark's always present creativity reached amazing new heights as she began painting in water color. Her amazing artwork is cherished by all her friends and family. Lark struggled with cancer for 17 years with only minimal symptoms. However, the 2012 holiday season proved to be a tipping point in that strife. Lark's amazing strength and determination to be home for Christmas, and not be in the hospital, became a reality that all of her family will cherish forever. "There is no Death! What seems so is transition" - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. We love you Mom!

Lark you will be missed by so many. You are loved by so many. Never once in the 17 years that you have been sick have I heard you complain about it. I have only heard about the good things in your life, your children and their accomplishments and your blessed grand daughter. I am so grateful that you were able to enjoy her so much. I will miss the pictures you send of her. Lark, you are a wonderful person, very caring, generous and talented. Your friends, but especially your family, will miss you so much. You will be in their hearts forever and your love will continue in each one of them. You and Chico showed your children what it is to love and this is how they will continue to live their lives. We will miss you Lark. Thank you for your friendship, you never gave up on me. Our hearts are very sad right now but you left many good memories in everyone you knew. We love you Lark.
