Dear Karie, Rich, Danielle and Jack-
We were so heartbroken to hear of Laura's passing. She really was a miraculous little girl. One of my fondest memories of Laura was when I was there visiting on her first birthday and she was wearing her "I am 1 T-Shirt." Karie, you were holding her in your arms, talking to her and she just flashed that big beautiful smile whenever she heard your voice. Such a precious moment!! We are deeply saddened by your loss, and want you to know that you are all in our prayers!!

Dear Dozer Family,
We have known you from a distance, since our twins were born very prematurely. Our son Amir has spent some of his schooling years with Laura. First at Foundation for the Blind and later at Cochise Elementry School.
You have been such a wonderful supportive family and through your love and dedication to Laura Grace , you have raised so much money for The Pheonix Childerns Hospital and United Cerebal Palsy, which have helped so many other children.
We hope you find peace in this difficult time knowing what a huge difference Laura's life impacted others.
Thinking of you!
Sincerely
Nir, Michele, Amir, Chanele & Shir Czopp

When I think of Laura Grace, I think of that amazing smile. It truly was full of grace. Those eyes, telling us all that she was loving her day. I think of those pink toes and spunky clothes. I remember Laura and her Mom, running doing stuff...all sorts of stuff. Those gals were busy! Laura, in her short life, exuded life.
Because of Laura, my son Avi was able to have an extra three years at Foundation for Blind Children. Those years helped him get ready for public school in so many ways. I can never thank her enough for that.
Karie and Rick, our hearts and souls weep for you and your loss. Your Laura Grace was a precious, precious teasure who will be missed.

Tears were in abundance as I read the news of the passing of your very special Laura Grace. I felt your pain, as I too lost my Hillary just three years ago. You followed behind us to FBC and on to Mr. Nick's class at Cochise. You have brought so much awareness to others and I applaud your strength and love for special needs children. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of sadness.

I wish I had magic words that would instantly ease your pain, but life just doesn't work that way. I can let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you! While I can not say I know what you are going through, I can say I know the heartbreak of losing a child. I wish no one would ever have to share that pain. But it will give you more compassion to reach out to others who share that pain. I will create in you strenght you never thought possible. No, you will never "get over it" but you will get through it, one day at a time, and sometimes one moment at a time. It has been a pleasure and an honor getting to know and love your family. I will always be here if you ever need an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on.
For Laura Grace,
When I first met you the first thing I noticed was your beautiful name! How perfect a fit for God's precious girl! You have such a beautiful smile! You taught me many lessons. How to love without words and the power of touch are just a few. I will treasure always our nights together, the stories, the songs, rocking together and the leg and foot massages that you loved. I will treasure "Goodnight Moon" and share it with all my grandkids. It's time to say "Goodnight miss Laura" I'll see you soon! Love, Donna and Jack

I am so sorry for your loss of Laura. I never did meet her, but Rich and I talked about us both having premature babies after she was born. The picture of her in the paper was that of an angel. Dear Karie, Richard, Danielle and Jack,
I am so sorry to hear about Laura's passing. I never had a chance to meet Laura or your family but I have been a therapist at UCP for 10 years who now has the gift of getting to work at the wonderful Laura Dozer center. Thank you for all you and your daughter Laura have done for individuals with disabilities. Her legacy will live forever. I often am sitting in the lobby of UCP waiting for a client to come in for an appointment and have found myself gazing at the beautiful picture of Laura sitting in her grandmothers lap and I have read and re-read the caption at the bottom of how her grandmothers dream was to have Laura be able to do the things we all take for granted like walk. I know they are now united again and can only imagine the joy they are both experiencing as Laura has been set free from the bonds of her earthly body and can now race into her grandmothers embrace. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Karie and Rich,
I suppose, because I had the honor of serving as Development Director at UCP I was a bit more familiar with your story than most. That being said, there is no way for me to say"I understand what you've gone through," as I've never lost a young child.
However, and there really is a huge "however" to this, I truly do appreciate the incredible impact Lauren has has, and the thousands of people (mostly children) who will end up benefitting from her visit to this planet. I know it's impossible to put a value on one's life but, if I could, the very top segment of my list would include your daughter's name.
It wasn't until I was in my mid 50's that I realized the non-profit world was for me and that the satisfaction I really sought could only come from being able to have a positive impact on a world that extended beyond my own family.
And, while I'm proud of what I've accomplished I can tell you that, at age nine, my life meant nothing to anyone else, except perhaps to those who bought me birthday presents. And, that can be, with equal accfuracy, said about me at 19, 29, 39 and 49.
Even now I have not come even close to making as much of an impact statement as Laura Grace.
I know your loss is great but so were your gains by being such special parents for such a special young lady.
It's a shame that most people being helped, in the past, now and in the future, as a result of your family, will never know where that assistance came front.
It would be nice if each one of them could receive a card that read "You wouldn't be where you are now if it weren't for Laura Dozier."

Dear Rich, Karie and Family,
In October 2005, we lost our son as well. He was 16 yrs old and very much like your sweet Laura. He attended the Foundation for Blind Children, Upward Foundation and UCP afterschool program at both locations. He too passed from complications with pnemonia. That was the one thing they had told us would probably take him years ago when he was born. I had always feared those words. I do believe these special kids, teaching souls, come to us for a reason and they bring with them silent voices that speak to all of us and open our hearts in ways that no one can understand unless they experience it. Having lived through it, I know this is a very difficult time for you and your family and there's nothing I can say or do to make it easier for you right now. But know that all of you are in our prayers, for strength and the ability to find peace through this difficult time. Laura through you and the people she touched has done amazing things for this community, for the special kids already here and the ones that will benefit from the programs you have helped for many years to come. It's a wonderful legacy she leaves behind, one you can truly be proud of and cherish always. I believe she now walks with God, because she can, and she is finding new friends, like my boy, and seriously comparing notes. She has now joined the "turn in your wheels for wings club" alongside my little guy. A heartfelt thank you for all you've done. God bless.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Rich, Karie, Danielle, and Jack-
My heart broke for you all when I heard the news about precious Laura Grace. I am so thankful for the time that I was able to spend with her... she was truly a gift to the world.
She has made an incredible impact on so many lives, young and old. We can honestly say that we've been in the presence of a real angel! I know that God will continue to bring you comfort and love during this time, and you will all be in our thoughts and prayers. Love to you.

As a mother, I cannot imagine the saddness of losing a child. My daughter is a healthy 2 1/2 year old and when I hear stories of parents with disabled or ill children, my heart swells with compassion. God bless you and your family and God Bless your beautiful Laura who was obviously one of God's angels sent here to make the world a better place.

Laura inspired real change at the Foundation for Blind Children. Her will to learn through the 8 years here at FBC challenged us to be better teachers and inspired us to do more. Thank you, Laura.

As a Father of a little girl with special needs (Down Syndrome), I am gratedul for all of the wonderful things that this little girl did for others. My daughter and others will benefit from all of her achievements.
Also as a Father of a little girl with special needs I also share the enormous gratitude one can have to be blessed with such a special little child. When it is all said and done we usually realize we need the child more than they need us. They bless our lives in ways that they only can do. I want to express my sympathies to the Dozier family. May God comfort you during this trying time. Someday you will be reunited and that day will be a glorious day.
