Lawrence Apodaca Obituary

Lawrence P. Apodaca went home to the Lord on December 26th. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Isabel, four children, Larry Jr., Charles, Yvette Lee and Marc. His brothers Allen Apodaca and Richard Ontiveros, sister-in-laws Sally Apodaca and Judy Sargent. Sisters Cruz Gomez and Della Cuevas with brother-in-laws Armando Gomez and Arnold Cuevas. Son-in-law David Lee and his Aunt Lupe Baca. Larry has 6 grandchildren, Carlos, Collette and Chase Apodaca, Gabriela, Ethan and Elijah Lee and two step-grandchildren Jason Lee and Kierra Heidtmann. Lawrence Apodaca was a man of honor and conviction who served the City of Glendale as a Police Officer for 25 years. He was shot in the Line of duty in 1986 and returned to the department for another 3 years until his retirement in 1989. He was always active in the community and church, serving on the Glendale Union School District board and as a Deacon/Lector with St. Louis the King Catholic Church. After his retirement he held several Law enforcement related positions with the State of Arizona. His passing will definately leave a void in the hearts of his family, the community and the many friends he made throughout his life. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Wednesday, December 29, 2004 with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 P.M. at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave., Glendale, AZ. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 5614 W. Orangewood Ave., Glendale, AZ. Interment will follow at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, AZ.

We are sorry to hear about the loss of Larry. I enjoyed serving him at JB's and kiss the Cook. Just saw the article on 1/18/2005. It is unbeleivable that Larry is no longer with us, he will be missed.

I too was a victim when Larry was shot. I was very grateful for some of our later conversations. Larry helped me deal with the robbery. He was a really wonderful person. My prayers are with you all.
