Leo Christopher Merkley

Leo Merkley Obituary

Leo Christopher Merkley, born Feb. 7, 1921 to Lorin William and Martha (Smith) Merkley, passed away July 25, 2008. He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a mission to the Southern States. He married Ejvor E. Johnson on Oct. 20, 1944 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They later served missions to Nauvoo, Ill. and the Mesa Family History Center. Leo was predeceased by his parents, brothers Emmett, Neal, Zane and Wayne, sisters Iola and Erma, son-in-law Carl Stradling and great-grandson Christopher Kydd. He is survived by his wife, Ejvor, sister Ruth Tiffany, children Clara (Sam) Wolfgramm, Judy (Doug) Godwin, Leon (Linda), Edith Stradling, Richard (Paula), Chris (Norm) Rhoton, Robert (Kathee), 36 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family. A viewing will be held on Fri. Aug. 1st, 6 - 8pm at the Glenview Ward Building on the corner of Lindsay and Pueblo in Mesa. Funeral Services will be Sat. Aug. 2nd at 10am with a viewing beginning 9am at the same location. Meldrum Mortuary handled the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the LDS Church Perpetual Education Fund or the Mesa Family History Center.

I will miss Uncle Leo so much, his bright smile always made me feel good. The memories I will always charish, one is being baptised in the pool at the old house in Mesa. Thank you so much for being speical to me. You are all in my prayers...
