Linda Ann (McKinstry) Adams Obituary

Adams, Linda Ann (McKinstry)
54 of Sun City, AZ, passed away on November 25, 2017. An Arizona resident since 2005, Linda was the Clinical Coordinator of the Intensive Care Unit at the Abrazo Arrowhead Hospital in Glendale where her 32 years of nursing experience allowed her to create an environment where her patients' care was her utmost concern and her colleagues learned by her example to be kind, considerate, and continually challenged to learn. The respect and love Linda showed her fellow nurses was returned in kind - the younger nurses called her "Mother" and many others, regardless of age, considered Linda to be the smartest nurse they'd ever known. Linda also lent her nursing expertise to critical care units at Banner Thunderbird Hospital in Glendale, John C. Lincoln Hospital in Phoenix, Deborah Heart and Lung Center in her hometown of Browns Mills, NJ and St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. Linda is a 1981 Graduate of Pemberton Township High School, Pemberton, NJ and a 1985 graduate of St. Francis Medical Center School of Nursing, Trenton, NJ. She was all business at work but Linda loved to have a good time - trips up to Seattle to drink her favorite Bloody Mary at Etta's, rolling up to Laughlin to play the slots, board games and Yahtzee with the family, "goin' down the shore" whenever she visited New Jersey, and letting loose with a one-of-a-kind laugh that sounded like a tickle, and then you were laughing, too. She was a girl who loved science - from biology to chemistry to astronomy - and she never stopped wanting to learn new things. Linda is survived by daughters Bridget Wood of Sun City, AZ and Sarah Wood of Maple Shade, NJ; husband Ronald Adams of Sun City, AZ; parents Charles and Phyllis McKinstry of Browns Mills, NJ; sister Coleen McKinstry of Sun City, AZ; sister Diane (Mark) Kouri of Lumberton, NJ; brother Joe (Paul Butler) McKinstry of Seattle, WA; sister Sharon Sheehan (Michael Pisaturo) of Bradenton, FL; three nieces - Amanda Sheehan, Megan Kouri, and Erin Sheehan; and two nephews - Josh Kouri and Steven Sheehan, Jr. Last but certainly not least, let's not forget the crown prince of Linda's world - Honey-Hon, the handsome one-eyed cat she rescued from the punishing Arizona heat. A celebration of Linda's wonderful life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1st, 2017 at Best Funeral Services, West Valley Chapel, 9380 West Peoria Avenue, Peoria, AZ 85345. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Linda's name to the American Cancer Society by credit card at www.cancer.org or by check to 4550 E. Bell Rd., Suite 126, Phoenix, AZ 85032. "But just before the dawn I awake and find you gone, I can't help it...I can't help it, If I cry, I remember that you said goodbye to end all these things, And I'll be happy in my dreams, Only in dreams, In beautiful dreams..." - R. Orbison

My heart goes out to all who loved Linda. Especially close friends and of course her family. I was privledged to work with her at Abrazo during my 6 month travel assignment. She truly was the mother of the unit who took us all under her wing with care and concern. She touched so many lives!
