Lyrene Heldt Obituary

Heldt, Lyrene (nee Heins)
Lyrene (nee Heins) Heldt, 93, born May 29, 1916 on her father's farm in Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, died peacefully on December 14, 2009. Lyrene attended rural school District #17 and graduated from the Lake City, Minnesota high school in 1932. She went to Winona teacher's college and taught in rural schools. She married Earl F. Heldt in 1939. During WWII, Lyrene taught school while Earl was in the army. Upon his discharge, they lived in Rapid City, South Dakota. In 1954, the family moved to Phoenix, where Lyrene and Earl started Heldt Lumber Company on North 7th Street. They belonged to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, where Lyrene was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML). They were blessed to celebrate their 50th Wedding anniversary with friends and family in 1989. When Earl became ill in 1995, Lyrene joined him at the Beatitudes Campus where she was active playing bridge and enjoying new friendships for many years. Lyrene is survived by her daughter, Mary Florian, son Frank Heldt (Patricia), and four grandchildren: Kristen O'Hare (Vinnie), Laura Costa (Brian), Elizabeth Bingham (Chris), and Alex Florian. Visitation will be held Monday, December 21st from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W. Bethany Home Road, Phoenix, Arizona. Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 22nd at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 5105 N. 7th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. It's sad to see another prominent Phoenix family lose its matriarch. I'm so grateful for the gifts she leaves behind: a lovely family and a long-standing family business. My thoughts are with all of you!

Dear Heldt family,

I am very sorry for your loss. Lyrene was my great aunt and very special to me. I have many fond memories of all the visits I had with Lyrene; when she would come to Minnesota and when I would fly to Arizona. Although she will be missed immensely; may all the precious memories of her help ease the pain. May God bring you peace and comfort during this time.

Although I'm not sure I ever met your Mom, the Heldt family has been a great friend to me for over thirty years. I offer my condolences, prayers, and best wishes to all. May the future bring wonderful memories of great times together, and reminders of how important and dear family is.
