Hey Granny,
It's me Juicy, It so hard writing in a guest book in your memory. However, we have shared so many memories together from the good to the bad, and still you never turned your back on me. You always stayed positive and motivated me to do better for myself and your baby LaLa. I will always carry your legacy of being a family and keeping it together like you always have with your strength and endurance. You are a great inspiration in my life, you let me know when I was wrong and right whether my feelings were hurt are not. I Love you so much for caring about my future and letting me see what the world has to offer if I did not do what I'm supposed to by my family (NOTHING).I miss talking to you everyday on the phone and visiting you periodically throughout the year. Well until we meet again, I LOVE YOU, YOUR THICK AND CHOCOLATE GRANDDAUGHTER JUICY!!!!! I AM THE 3RD GRAND-DAUGHTER, BUT I TAKE THE PLACE OF #1.

Ms. Thorton, I remember ditching school and you be the first person I run into on the campus of Pacific. Having to walk with you, and then you kick us out. I remember coming to the house, and it was like being at my own parents home, the same rules applied. I remember that Bridgette getting me in trouble (Laugh). You were a mother to everyone, and will truly be missed.

As I sat at the memorial and listened to all the stories about Mrs. Thornton it brought back memories on how much she cared about us, and how she had no problem forcing her position on you. ? I remember thinking to myself, I already have someone at home that stays on me; now I have to come to school and get the same? What up with that? I could not go anywhere and cut up. There was always someone who would put me in my place. Thank God for strong Mothers. There were three women that I fondly remember not allowing me to accept that just because we were poor that it meant that I could not shine. These three women reminded me that others before me had died so that I could take advantage of opportunities that they were not afforded; my Mother, my Aunt Artelea, and Ms. Thornton. They were like strong Regal Black Queens majestically standing watch over me. I will never forget how these women made me proud to be Black. How they showed me that I am somebody no matter what anyone says. I hold on to this thought to this day and embrace it. It was and is my pleasure and my blessing to have shared Mrs. Thornton with her family. If it takes a village to watch over you then Mrs. Thornton surely was one of the lead elders. May she and others like her continue to watch over us.

Mrs. Thornton, thank you for caring for me and I hope I’ve done you proud.

God Bless.

Mom, I am going to miss you dearly. You are my beautiful hero. You raised us to be strong, respectful children, and I will always carry that with me. I am going to miss our talks when I called you as I was driving to Sunday dinner at Erika's house, as I was returning from a trip, or driving from church. But most of all, I'm going to miss saying I LOVE YOU, and hearing you say back to me, I LOVE YOU, TOO, BABY.

Mom, thank you for all that I am today. See you in heaven, your 7th child, LaTonya

There is no sorrow that can compare to the death of the one who was used of GOD to bring you into this world. May the entire familiy be comforted to know that there is no more suffering for Aunt Margaret who has found rest.

Be strong in the LORD and in the power of HIS might (Ephesians 6:10).

I'm going to miss you very much. The phone calls and the visits to your house and most of all your unconditional love for me, my wife and my children. I'll miss you getting on me for coming to your house without the kids. With the holiday season upon us and not having you here to share those moments with me will be hard, but I know that you wanted me to remain strong for the family and I will. I love you very much Grandma! Love, Your oldest grandchild...
