Michael Smith Obituary
55, of Mesa died November 29, 2012 at Banner Baywood Hospital after a long hard fought battle with cancer. Michael was born July, 21, 1957 in Elyria, Ohio to Eugene William Smith and Helen Marie Parker. Loving husband and father his greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife Kathy of 32 years. His children A. Justin, and Heather Gannon, grandson, Duncan Gannon, sisters, Kathy Johnson and Becky Buttrum, brothers, John and Ralph of Mesa and Chuck of Ft. Collins, Co. His absence will also be felt by many nieces and nephews, family and friends Mike was a spiritual man. His faith along with his loving family and friends, gave him the strength he needed to contend with his illness for many years. Mike will also be remembered for his great sense of humor. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and most recently, bird watching. Mike's interests also included history, music and his favorite baseball team…the Cubs. Mike was preceded in death by parents Eugene Smith and Helen Anderson. Mike requested a "Celebration of Life" party, which will be held at his sister's home on Saturday, December 15th, 2012, at 3 PM. My thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences to Mike's family. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I haven't seen Mike in many years, but will never forget his kindness and his smile.
