Paul Hickert Obituary
Paul N. Hickert, 74 of Litchfield Park, AZ died January 31, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born June 9, 1942 in Norton, KS to John and Mary Hickert. Paul served as a Captain in the US Army from 1965 to 1969. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Air Medal with 33 oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with Valor and numerous other medals. He is the author of Headhunter 19 AKA Eagle Eye, a personal account and human story of his year of service in the Vietnam War. Paul graduated from Kansas State University in 1965 and began a career in agricultural companies. His career provided him an opportunity to travel and live in many states and Liberia, West Africa. The family settled in Arizona in 1981 and Paul worked in the milling technology/pasta business and agriculture. Paul is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lola Best Hickert; daughters, Celeste Furey, Angela Horner, Ann-Marie Hickert; son, Paul N. Hickert II; sisters, Ruth Browne, Regina Wasinger, Roberta Lees; brothers, Jay Hickert, Urban Hickert, Louis Hickert; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at 1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ. Burial will be at a later date at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. Condolences for the family may be left at www.thompsonfuneralchapel.com.
