Pete Engard Obituary

Pete Thomas Engard passed away March 22, 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona. Pete was a man of great integrity and honor. His spirit held a great passion for the wilderness. He had a kind heart and gave it freely to all who knew him, especially his wife and family. He enjoyed scuba diving, photography, hunting, leather tooling, and exploring nature with his family. He was also an avid reader and western history enthusiast. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for eight years. He was an Avionics Technician and Aircrew Man in the Vietnam War. He also served with the 48th Aviation Co, 159th Aviation Bn., and 101st Abn. Div. (Air Aslt). Pete had a tremendous work ethic. He was employed with Loftin Equipment Company for the last 27 years as an Electrical Generator Technician. Pete was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He leaves behind Deborah, his wife of 39 years; his children, Shawn and Penny Engard, Christine Garcia, Katelin, Michael; and four grandchildren, Jared, Jason, Kianna, and Jack. He also leaves his brother John Henry Engard, and sisters Rosemary Engard and Cecilia Owen; nephews Peter Engard and Christopher Owen; honorary nephews Keith and Kent Ervin, and best friend Terry Moore. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., with Scripture Service at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, March 27th, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 28th, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2312 East Campbell Avenue, with interment following at St. Francis Cemetery.
