79, of Mesa, AZ passed away on 1-29-2010. He is survived by his wife Joyce, son Peter M. Dellios and his wife Cathy, daughter Carol Aiken and her husband Frazier, brother Dr. Louis Dellios and his wife Pat. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Danielle Dellios. Pete was born August 20, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to James and Margaret Dellios. He met Joyce Grafton, the love of his life, in the fall of 1952 while on a fellowship in chemistry at Indiana University, and they married in 1954. A devoted alumnus of Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Pete was inducted into the Carroll College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988. He was a letter winner in football, basketball and tennis, and a Carroll College "Hinky Hero" in 1952. In his long career as a chemical salesman, Pete was also inducted into the Tab Chemicals Hall of Fame from 1968-1997. Pete's true passions, other than his family, were baseball, books, and golf. He signed a professional baseball contract as a pitcher with the Boston Braves in 1953, and never gave up hope that the Chicago Cubs would one day win the World Series. Pete served in the Army and was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany in 1955, where he was a star of the Army baseball team. In 1998, Pete and Joyce retired to Mesa, Arizona, to their home at the Las Sendas Golf Resort. An avid golfer, Pete fell in love with Las Sendas, where he not only golfed but worked part time for years. Pete kept the publishing industry in business; a voracious reader, he devoured books of all kinds, from fiction to science to politics. One short sentence from a 1955 article in the Waukesha Freeman newspaper epitomized Pete's life: "From atoms to curveballs, Pete Dellios knows the score." A celebration of Pete's life will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Las Sendas Golf Club.
