Phillip Fry Obituary

Fry, Phillip E. M.D.
81, passed away with his loving wife Cindy by his side, January 26, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. Phillip was born in Lansing, Michigan, November 9, 1933 to parents Edward and Gertrude Fry. He was raised in Fremont, Michigan and attended Michigan State University, pursuing his medical degree at University of Michigan, graduating in 1965. He completed his residency in Anesthesia at University of Colorado at Denver. He practiced medicine in the Phoenix area for 45 years and was a member of St. Joseph's Hospital Trauma Team for 25 years. Phillip was a member of the Arizona Medical Association, American Medical Association and Arizona Society of Anesthesiologists. He was known to his colleagues as a caring and compassionate practitioner working with children and adults alike.

In his personal life, Phillip was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, godfather and friend. He expressed his adventurous side as a sailor, pilot, skier, traveler and outdoor guide. He shared these skills with all he loved, creating opportunities for those around him to love these same experiences. The beauty of the outdoors inspired him and he never wanted to experience it alone. Any day on the ocean, the mountains or in the sky was a great day!

Phillip shared his musical skills as a strong, smooth tenor. He expressed his spiritual side through his participation in multiple church choirs. Many were blessed by hearing him sing. His beautiful voice will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents and and three sisters. Survivors include his wife Cindy, sons Robert, Jason and Justin and his daughter Christine, as well as two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He faced many personal and familial challenges, but continued to pick himself up and carry others on through difficult times. He never gave up and never ceased caring for those in his heart who were near or far. Smooth seas and full sails on your next voyage, Phil. You are loved.

Services will be Wednesday, February 4, 6:00 P.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church located at 11300 North 64th Street, Scottsdale. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1893, Memphis, TN 38101-9950, stjude.org.

Cindy, I couldn't help thinking during the wonderful service you had for Phil, how few of those attending had had the pleasure of knowing as long and as well as I have. I sang(not in church)with him, I've skied the big burn at Snowmass, sailed off the CA coast, glided over the Sierra Estrallia
Mountains and I've bin in the OR with him both as a patient and as a surgeon, and enjoyed every minute. 45 years goes by pretty fast when you're having that much fun. He will be greatly missed by many of us who were privileged to know him so well, so long. He wasn't perfect but he didn't sit around and wait to see what "life" thru his way. He took life by the hors and did it his way. His friends will be saying kinds word of him for a long time to come. I wish the best for you. Sincerely, Dr Dick Daley
