Richard Del Monte Obituary
Rick left this life on April 7, 2017, giving life through organ donation. His legacy to a life of strength and honor follows him. Rick was born to Orlando and Kathleen Flannigan Del Monte on March 4, 1944. He was raised in Aurora, IL where he graduated from West High in 1962. After graduation, Rick joined the Air Force and was stationed in Spangdahlem, Germany where he earned the honor of becoming the youngest crew chief on the F105 at the age of 19. In 1967, Rick married Patricia Karsten and together raised three amazing children, Kristin, Jason and Megan. He is also survived by his grandson, the joy of his life, Adam Richard Rondo Del Monte, his sister Colleen and brother Joseph. Rick rests knowing his two sons-in-law, Jeff Glasner and Chad Feucht will protect and honor his daughters. The life Rick lived was full. He will be remembered as a man who charted his course and never waivered, who loved his family and his friends with a fierceness that gave shelter in any storm…and always will. A Celebration of Rick's Life will take place on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 1:00pm at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary in Scottsdale. A website is available at www.messingermortuary.

Rick will always be a special friend. He was there to discuss all aspects of life, but especially the Diamondbacks and the Chicago Bears. He loved his service to his country and spent many an afternoon telling stories about his time in the Air Force. He had a great time in Germany, Spain and Libya. He loved his family, he always had a story about his grandson. Rick, you will be missed by me. I feel the loss, we spent many an afternoon watching the Dbacks, you much more observant than me. Peace, my friend.

To the Del Monte Family: My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
