Richard Dickson Obituary

Dickson, Richard E.
Chief Warrant Officer 4, Richard Earl Dickson, (68) United States Army, Retired, passed away November 30, 2016 in Anthem, AZ after a six-year battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Richard was born in Visalia, CA. He graduated from Port Hueneme High School in 1966 and began his military career. He served in the United States Army as an Attack and Scout Pilot, Test Flight Evaluator and Aircraft Maintenance Officer before retiring in 1996. During his military career, he received Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (4th award), Army Commendation Medal (3rd award), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4th award) and Master Army Aviator Badge. He received a Bachelors of Science in Aeronautical Studies at Embry-Riddle, Masters of Business Management at University of Laverne, and Strategic Logistics Management at Air Force Institute of Technology. Richard had a passion for fine arts, aircrafts, model cars, baseball, civil war, military and history memorabilia. He was a very kind hearted man who loved his friends and family, especially his two grandsons. He enjoyed spending many holidays and adventures with them. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Joyce Dickson; and his brother Larry Dickson. He is survived by his daughters, Nichole Nickols and Michelle Dickson; grandsons, William Nickols and Andrew Kozak; sister, Carole Dickson; brothers, Gary and Dennis Dickson; niece and nephews, Victoria and Carl Triola, Erik Dickson, Jeremy and Amber Dickson, David Dickson, James and Michelle Dickson, and their children; and other family members of the Dicksons and Lockwoods. A Military Memorial Service honoring Richard will be held on Monday, January 30th, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024. Donations may be made to the Veteran's Administration (homeless program), National Memorial Cemetery or Salvation Army.
