Richard Duke Pryle

Richard Duke Pryle, 81, a 50 year Tempe resident died at his home last week. Duke was the former Commander of the Tempe VFW and American Legion. Former National Commander of the "Cooties" Veterans Organization. A retired Lt. Colonel, he was also a proud active member of the 82nd and 101st Airborne. He was one of the youngest to serve in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Anita. He is survived and be greatly missed by his daughters, Judy Styers, Kathy (Carl) Bump and Georgeanne Ford. His grandsons Bill Van Parys, Darrell Qualls, Matthew Stiver, Justin Boontjer, and Richard Van Parys. He is also survived by his sister Betty. He has two great grandchildren, Madison & Richard. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-8pm at Carr Tenney Mortuary 2621 S. Rural Rd Tempe, Rosary is at 7pm. Funeral mass will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel 2121 S. Rural Rd. Tempe on Wednesday August 11, 2004 at 9:30 am.
